This is great. I have been playing these guys for some time and now I find a site dedicated to it. I have been wondering if I was doing the right thing or not so I am glad others have taken up the task of messing with these scammers.
I have a few ways I do it but one of my favorites is what I call my Mayberry theme. I pretend to be Andy Taylor and my business partner is Barney Fife and I use several characters from the show and I still get a kick when I get an e-mail back and the first thing it says is thank you Mr Taylor for replying to my request. I lead them on for as long as they keep replying.
Well I am just glad I am not alone in this and now I will attack it with even more earnest.
Thanks and let's keep the scum on the line and who knows maybe it will save someone from getting ripped off.

Main point, bait safe - use an e-mail that doesn't contain personal information (Gmail strips the IP header so they can't tell where you are coming from)...it sounds like you are giving out no personal info - lol

Thanks for the welcome everyone, I will be going through the site over the weekend and learn as much as I can about how things work. Already got a couple of tips.
I do have a Gmail account I use.

Hiya and welcome!

My tip is to read, read, read - Eater is an amazing place with some incredibly refined baiting modalities and set of jargon (like "modalities") because of the sheer size and efficiency of the community.

Please read the stickies, maybe ask for a mentor in the mentors thread if you'd like a bit of company as you're getting up to speed with how we do it here, etc.
