Recently I received an email containing a rambling story about a large order for furniture which had been prepared and then the buyer backed out leaving the seller to off load at reduced price etc.
They had contacted me because of our previous business dealings blaa blaa blaa.
Great! Yes, I was very interested in the furniture? Can they deliver? (I live on a remote Scottish isle, Lochjoor or something) I will need to fit out about a billion square feet of office space and I only want top quality stuff. Happy to pay cash up front etc.
I then get a genuine looking response with a brochure and some details of the supplier.
A vague dull light goes on in my head.
I check the mail address they used.
It was my old business email.
I really had dealt with these people before...
I had to come clean with the chap.
He was very understanding and sympathised with the cause...
Damn mugus! Causing problems even when they are not involved! |

hehehe, i've been in a similar situation with a potential research collaborator (this matched fairly closely to one of my now defunct baiting formats) and it was a bit embarrassing to extricate myself!
good to see you back here! a number of old timers have made reappearances lately...
