My first scammer

Hi all!

I posted an apartment for rent and got a reply from a scammer.
Didn't know he was a scammer at first, so I gave him my address and phone number. He sent me a bad check from a Wells Fargo account which turned out to be valid, but with less than 5,500.00 in it. LOL
I have read a couple posts that say that if the scammer has your personal information, you should drop him, but how else are people supposed to get trophies and stuff?
Meanwhile, I told the dude that the check was destroyed, so maybe he'll send me another one. LOL

I'd appreciate some more info on this.

Because of this lame scammer I found this awesome web site. I love it! I also love the fact that so many others also had the great idea of messing with scammers.
