I have been getting lottery scams in my Gmail inbox (not spam). Has this been happening to you? |

There are a lot of lottery scams.
Not one lottery that I've ever heard of used e-mail as it's sole means of contacting you. And everyone that I've heard of you had to sign up for or buy a ticket, you aren't just entered automatically.
The fact it wasn't caught by the spam filter is it's being used by an IP address that hasn't had enough abuse reports yet.
You will still get spam/scams even though you have a spam filter on. |

One thing to know is that if you mark scammy stuff as 'not spam' a few times, their filter will adjust accordingly. In other words, you can teach it that you don't want it to filter out scam emails. I tried it with one of my gmail account recently and could almost tweak it down to certain *types* of scammy emails being allowed in the inbox. It's actually kind of neato! |
