I first heard of this outfit a year or so ago (long before I heard of this forum). A friend was gushing about how she was going to earn thousands of dollars on a very small investment. She was going to be a millionaire in no time, pay off all her debts, buy her daughter and grandchildren a really nice house, and retire in luxury. So far she's still living in the mother-in-law cottage behind her daughter's tiny house. And the daugher and grandchildren are still living a hand-to-mouth existence.

I read somewhere that this was a Ponzi scheme. I sat in on a conference call at the invitation of my friend. This was a two-hour rambling lecture by the founder. He was - among other things - apologizing for the non-appearance of several hundred laptops that were to be handed out at a convention in Las Vegas several months previously.

What rankles most with me is the name of the outfit - Friends United Network. This is the name of a legitimate charitable organization that (from what I can tell) does much good.

I'm not a great scam-detector, and I'm technologically inept. Is this something one of you brilliant folks would like to check out? I've run a search on it in the forums, and haven't found it.
