I decided to start a new thread in this forum as a continuation of this one in the Help/Tips forum:
http://forum.419eater.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=127541
Now that he (they?) have made it to Contanou, I thought more people might like to be a part of suggesting where he should go from here. I know the first place will be Parakou for the shuttle, but from there it's wide open.
He says he had never been to Benin before, and I think he deserves a memorable experience to bring back to Lagos. |

Profso, I think a trip to parakou nis a good staging ground to get him up towards Natitingou, which is closer to the park and the "camp". Once there, he is across the whole country. Getting him to go to the Pen-djari park is a deal ender as, unless he is truly stupid, he is going to twig! Hahahaha, so maybe getting him to meet you in Niamey while you are touring would give the lad a few more miles to travel? |

I really wasn't sure what I wanted to have happen with my character next, so I didn't contact them until about 7 hours after my flight supposedly landed. I decided to make it safely to the 5imba camp. Here's what he got:
| PhD wrote: |
| After an EXTREMELY long and arduous travel, I have arrived safely in Benin Republic. I ended up getting into Niamey, Niger three hours late due to a long flight delay. Unfortunately, I have not had an opportunity to purchase a mobile phone in Benin yet, but will do my best later today. Have you arrived in Benin? I was expecting to reach the camp and see an e-mail from you, but nothing was in my inbox besides an e-mail from Mr. Tarxxx. I brought you a band new Dell laptop from my office. We get a lot of them sent to us for testing purposes, so no one will miss just one. Don't worry about paying for it. It's my gift to you for making such a great effort to help Mr. Tarxxx and I finalize this stage of the transaction. Please e-mail me to let me know if you've made it to Benin Republic, and also supply me with a direct line to contact you if you have one. I really need to sleep for a while, so I will be checking my e-mails later today. If you've made it to Benin, I hope you're enjoying your travels so far. All the best to you. |
Just so there isn't any confusion, I got a readnotify from an E-mail I sent to him that he read the message @ 4:25 PM in Cotonou. According to travel times he gave me, he was supposed to be there at 4:30 PM. Of course, since he didn't reply personally, my character has no idea if he's there yet or not. |

^^ Now now, not to burst your bubble, but he's not suffering yet. Or if he thought he was, he'll redefine the term soon enough.
Edit: Simba, I'm sure he hasn't contacted you yet because he thinks my character is really going to try to make it to Cotonou today. Obviously that's not happening, so if you feel up for pitching into getting him to Parakou, I'd appreciate it. |

The key at this point is to get him further and further away. When he complains about money, tell him that you will reimburse him once he gets there and that he need only worry about the ticket there. Of course you will be providing the return ticket for him, free of charge.
Congrats on this safari! |

So, where is he now? If he gets to Parakou, then make him sit there for a while, overnighht at least, and move him to Natitingou.
I look forward to hearing about it!
As Jojo says, of course you will be remunerating him for all of his many expenses, right? |

Well, the lad is making my life easy for today. He finally just opened the e-mail I sent when I "arrived". He hasn't responded yet, but I'm expecting that soon. Of course, he dragged his damn feet getting to the computer all day (this has really been surprising to me, by the way) so it's too late now to even think about trying to meet up until tomorrow.
As long as he saves his receipts for the hotel, he'll be fine. I wonder if he's been partying it up on his vacation.
Jojo - I'm following every e-mail with a readnotify one. It's a great service, so thanks for turning me on to it.
readnotify still confirming 86% likelihood ot Cotonou for the rock-kicker. |

@ Doc -
| Quote: |
| ...and move him to Natitingou. |
I figured something along those lines would be a good option, so this was his story to follow that I sent before he hit the road. When he ends up in contact with the 5imba director, he'll be telling him this:
| PhD wrote: |
| It is of the utmost importance to me, and I ask you to remain confidential as well. My wife is from an area of Benin Republic called Natitingou, so if the Director asks, just tell him that is where you live and that you're my wife's brother. Trust me, he won't ask anything further. |
He's like "from there", according to the story he'll be slinging.
The bastard checked his e-mail and never replied. What in god's name could he be waiting for? I just sent a fresh flurry of "concerned for his safety" e-mails to all characters. I'm REALLY confused because you'd think he would want to get into contact with my character immediately. Definitely got me scratching my head. I had originally told him that I probably wouldn't be able to travel to Cotonou (if I could at all) until the 29th (tomorrow), but you'd really think he'd be trying to brain-rape me into being the one that makes the trip for the meeting. I really have no clue what's going on. |

Well, idiot-boy just responded about two minutes after that post:
| Ramblin' Man wrote: |
It is indeed a pleaure to hear that you have arrived safely; besides that you bought me the gift item _ laptop. Actually, I guess you arrived before me because i just arrived now; this is my phone number as i have secured one: 957xxxxx. please kindly call as soon as you see this mail.
However, i had small problem at my transit point which we have to talk when you call. I look forward to hearing from you fast.
|
Anyone want to try to guess that the "small problem" was? My guess is that he brought a receipt for it from Lagos, whatever it is.
Odd that he just arrived now, considering the ip he checked mail from over 24 hours is the same as this one.
My line of logic is telling me that he's to fake some trouble along the way and produce receipts for said problems. I've told them I brought an extra 8 grand to reimburse any expenses he might incur in his travels. He's probably planning to show up at the meeting with $7999.99 in receipts. |

No word from mugu as yet..
It always makes me wonder why they are so keen to bounce a victim from fake bank to phoney barrister, and yet they themselves stick so rigidly to one contact. Idiots.. |

^^ Feel free to e-mail him. I told one of his characters (mail already read from the same ip as him) that I was worried about his safety and had asked the Director of the camp if he had tried calling the satellite phone at the camp or e-mailing the Director.
I haven't responded to his message telling me that he's there now, so for all intents and purposes, I'm still worried. Maybe you could drop a line and say that earlier in the day I had expressed my worries to you and was asking if you'd gotten an e-mail. Tell him that sometimes messages do get lost and you just wanted to reach out in case he had made an effort to contact you or something. Then you could just say that you haven't seen me since you got back and weren't sure if by now we had established contact.
That was probably more wordy than something would need to be for you to try establishing contact, but I think now would be a good time to bring the Director in if we can.
Thoughts? |

Somehow idiot-boy lost all his bags and money, but he somehow still has the documents for me to sign. Anyway, he sounds a little frustrated. "They speak French here!"

This Lad has lost his mind as well as his bags...
The great thing about this Lad is that he's probably staged the lost bags routine in order to get you to move. You "walled" him and now he knows he must move....great baiting....
Vegas odds on the lad moving are now set at 10/1... |

Brilliant work! My pirate hat nods in appreciation.
He is traveling to Parakou, next! It's such a shame that the shuttle had clutch problems..... maybe he can get to Natitingou, which is so much closer to the camp. Everyone knows where it is, after all.... |

I got sick this evening.I have serious fever and flu because of bad climatic condition .I will go to hospital for treatment.I am very weak.
I happened to contact Dr Taxxxx concerning this matter .He is a close confidence of Dr Tarxxx. You will not have any problem dealing with him tomorrow.
He told me that i should contact Mr Moxx Daxxx who is diplomatic attach to Ghananian embassy. He was asked to assist me deliver the document to you in Parakou Benin and receive the payment also.I wish to inform you to travel to Parakou urgently and take a hotel room in La Majestic hotel ,call and give me the room number so that i will be calling you from the hotel room.
However,Mr Moxx Daxxx moxx is coming with every neccessary documents required. You have to make the payment to Mr Moxxx Daxxx moxx.He will live Cotonou tomorow early morning to arrive Parakou before 11am.I will send you his telephone number as soon you get to Parakou and secure a hotel room. This is the new solution to all this problem.I hope you do not have problem with this new arrangement.
Confirm to me if you will be in Parakou tomorrow and send me your room number since it is difficult to get you in the camp; There is telephone service in Parakou. You can purchase a local phone upon your arrival to Parakou because of this transaction.I might meet you before i live if i can get better tomorrow? Get a hotel room in Parakou today so that by tomorrow morning Mr Moxx Davxxx moxx will meet you with all the neccessary document.Make sure you will be there alone.Call me later in the day.

Well, maybe you should simply refuse to go to Parakou. Tell him you want him to come to the camp, and the pickup point is in Natitingou. Tell him the Parakou shuttle is not being used this week, that all customers are ataying in Natitingou. If possible, get him to Parakou, first... then dump the news on him.
Really well done, BTW! I like this. |

Good luck! |
