Some vermin are running a scam via ebay - buy goods and then say they never delivered. Paypal will repay them and lock your account etc.

How to prevent being a victim of this type of fraud - as it is fraud.

1. Insure the item - it is possible items do get lost in the post.
2. Use the Tracable Recorded delivery service *post offices will advise on prices etc
3. when it arrives get a copy of the delivery note
4. Store the sale/Docs safely, then if someone does recieve goods at least you can PROVE that not only did you send them they were delivered.

It still leaves open the "the parcel was empty" and i havent seen a method in my post office to say "item XYZ" and them stamp it, but thats what you will need is proof you sent the item.

I was selling a number of items for a friend on Ebay and one of the buyers tried to tell me that only half of the expected contents arrived. She did however confirm that the package was not damaged in any way. My slip from the post office show the correct weight for the full amount of contents. If the buyer was right, it should have weighed half.

She was obviously just trying to scam me.

So, what did I do?

I told her to fuck off and that if I heard from her again I'd press criminal charges of fraud against her as well as sueing her for libel. Her written German was pretty bad and I made sure to write in an overly correct style that in and of itself would intimidate her.

I never heard from her again.

The has non-existent tracking unless you spend top dollar. and have less-expensive tracking.

I would file charges against her or at least reported her sorry @ss to eBay and Paypal. I'm sure she tried that scam on other sellers.

As a matter of fact, I did.

She made the stupid mistake of threatening to give me a negative evaluation unless I sent her more stuff.

Ts ts ts ts.

Too bad for her that that's a serious offence against Ebay's rules. Given the chance, I of course gave her a royal brow beating and reported her to the good folks at the abuse department.

I've often received messages from ebay about non-delivery of sold items. Since I don't have an ebay account, this is not as big a problem as it might have been...

The UK Royal Mail does also do proof of postage etc, but I don't think there's anyway you can proove there was something in the parcel. As long as it's insured however, you can make a claim against the post office for goods lost/stolen in transit. Anything's better then trying to sort out an issue with the arch evil that is paypal.

Theres not much we can do about ebay - its a big business and yup it sucks that we cant - but we have to protect ourselves.

Only time will tell what solutions are found for todays crime, but one thing is certain - criminals wont get away from us lot Smile
