Hi all, just wanted to share a recent scam I was hit with that seemed much more complex than your average lotto/inheritance scam. I'll begin by telling you, I am a musician, and I have a page on MySpace Music. Well, one day I got an email from a guy who says he saw me play at a club (which I do sometimes), and who wants to know if I book for private shows. I said I do indeed. He set me up with dates, times, details, and everything, and when he sent me payment, it turned out to be a fake check scam. The damn envelope with the check was postmarked Nigeria drawn from a bank in Texas and was very poorly counterfeited. Just wanted to share this...they get smarter by the day! |

They've been harvesting websites for years. It's dangerous for the site owners because they just don't expect it or know what it is.
Everyday business for us here.

Yup, I think we have found part of the problem. Trash MySpace if you can. |

The scammers can also do perfect counterfeits and arrange to have them posted locally, so don't think that they are all low quality and easily spotted.
Some here specialise in baiting the cheque scammers. |

Scammers have been known to try and "pay" for all kind of services this way from rooms in Bed & Breakfasts to DJs. As Kleindoofy has said this one has been played out many many times before. Sounds like you didn't fall for it which is the main thing welcome to Eater. |
