I just happened to turn on the Travel Channel tonight, and it's Anthony Bourdain in Accra, Ghana! I'm watching it right now. Anthony Bourdain is a former chef who has a terrific show on the Travel Channel called "No Reservations" in which he travels all over the world, to some very exotic places, and showcases their food and their culture.
Well I just started a few new baits, and all of them are with lads in Accra. So I thought it was very cool to be watching this show and seeing the place where these mugus live -- the food they eat, the markets where they shop, the bars where they hang out. Knowing how rampant 419 scams are in Accra, I couldn't help but wonder how many of the young men I saw hanging around in the market and dancing in the bar are scammers!
Anyway, I'm finding it very interesting to see their culture for myself. Anthony Bourdain certainly seems to like it -- and to tell you the truth, the food looks pretty damn good. There's really a lot that is beautiful in that country, and I find it such a shame that it's reputation is being sullied by all the sicko scammers. |

This is not suppsed to be the place for it, but what the heck, since you brought it up... I recommend Bourdain's book Kitchen Confidential. It's his inside look at the restaurant business. It's great fun, and written with his unique style and attitude. I listened to the audio version, which is read by the man himself, so you can hear his no-bullshit attitude in the tone of voice as well as the words. |

Bourdain is The Man.
I will definitely DVR that show so I can catch up on the latest nutritional offerings in Accra! |
