This has nothing to do with scambaiting, other than the fact I happened upon this blog when I was trying to dig up some information on an IP address.

This sounds like a REALLY REALLY cool setup and now I want one.

Sorry Weas, I understand where you were going with it. It does look pretty cool. It's just that if it takes to much of a hold in Nigeria then sending lads large, timewasting files may become redundant and thats what grabbed my attention. Hope that explains what I meant better.

Interestingly, part of my degree covers WiMax. Apparently it's currently being trialled in parts of the UK as an alternative to 3G-type connections in city centers etc, but potentially we could see it being used for broadband connections in the home too.

OK.... babyboyuk81, please respect to OP and stay on topic. My post was not meant to raise a stink about the lads having internet accesss, hence the reason I posted this in General Chat. Would this not have turned into a "Oh hell no, don't give the scammers better internet access" if I had posted some thing other than a Nigerian's blog explaining WiMax? (don't answer that question) Evil or Very Mad

So, back to my point.. WiMax sounds like a cool thing for us NON-SCAMMERS.

but now i think about it that does sound cool im sure they will look into ventureing into having it setup for international useage to cause it looks great to me

I'd expect that if it's being trialled here, it's almost certainly being trialled in the US too.

A quick Wikipedia search turned up this list of companies who've licenced the bandwidth for WiMax in the US and elsewhere. Looks like just a matter of time Smile

@419weasel - I think the city of Philadelphia already has this citywide or is still in the process of setting it up. I haven't heard anything about it in a while, so I am not up on it's status.

Hopefully, it will come to Texas soon, if it isn't already here.. Someone at work says he has a badass connection and he lives out in the sticks somewhere.. I'll have to ask him what it's called.
