Great video their Les.
One of the best blues jams ever (great SW song by the way)- and it is just one guy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWCKL_MHRoU
One of my favourite guitar videos here. Not exactly bluesy, but dang.

The guy might look like a giant bag of douche, but that is the most impressive thing I have ever seen on a guitar. |

Scotty Anderson is one of the best Telecaster slingers around at the moment. This version of Duke's It Don't Mean A Thing is scarily good. Shows him handling the gypsy jazz style very well.
Oh and please note: no pick. Hardcore.
Here's my favourite. Shawn Lane x2
Shawn Lane playing Morricone
Shawn Lane, two years before his death, plays his own composition Gray Piano's Flying
@jojo: Adam is a great player, and pretty unique at what he is doing.. He does have a clavecimbel thing going, though, which is cool.
I do think that the "novelty value" of the two handed tapping approach far exeeds the actual musical possibilities of it. Case in point Stanley Jordan, playing Autumn Leaves. It's pretty cool, until you remember he sounds like two average jazz guitarists playing at the same time... |

Adam's stuff though... he is playing stuff that is a bit difficult for a pianist to play. He is a bit more advanced than Mr. Jordan. But your point on the tapping is a very good one though. More of a show than anything else. |

@Jojo: With most guitarists it's more of a show thing indeed. I've tried it myself for some time, and found out that if you want to play two parts at the same time, you should either fingerpick or play keys
That doesn't mean that tapping is no legitimate musical technique. A stringed instrument does have a lot of possibilities a keyed one has not, such as continuous pitch control and vibrato. The Chapman stick is a guitar derived instrument totally desinged around the tapping approach, and as you can hear, it can be used to great results. It's been around since the sixties, and if I had two grand lying around, hell, I might try one myself...
On the other hand: a guitar shaped keyboard is absolutely devastating |
