^ It's ok, between the plot and some of the other characters in there it should be an ok movie (they just won't get full mileage out of it with Will Smith).
Even Jared Leto ought to do fine due to how he acts. When he gets a role he takes it on fairly thoroughly. Sure, he won't be no Heath and that would be a touch act to follow. Heath was magna carta in morior magnum opus....... which is a tough act for anyone to follow. Hell even Jack Nicholson warned him that the character could consume him. |

^^With the little taste of Leto's Joker in the trailer, I'm looking forward to more. I liked it. Joker is probably my favorite villain in all of comicdom- Marvel and DC... |

^ I will admit to being mildly curious about what new demented form Leto will give the Joker. Now if only August next year would hurry up and get here.
Another thing I never liked about the whole dark knight series was they never did Joker with Harley. They are a dynamic power couple of pure chaos and tragedy. Yes I realize Heath is dead. Maybe Jared will provide them an alley to do it? I always thought using Willem Dafoe as an "aged" Joker for a dark knight with Harley Quinn in it would be good too. Willem has the right look for it and go watch his performance in Boondock Saints and Spiderman was the Green Goblin. I think Willem could pull off an aged joker quite easily which would be good with how they left the last dark knight. An aging Batman for an aging Joker.
FYI any film types reading this if you use my idea I want........ half. |

Somehow I missed this thread completely. I'm a die hard DC fan mainly Flash, Superman and Green Lantern. I never really got in to Batman sure he's cool and stuff but he doesn't have any real powers just a rich guy. I still have a few thousand books stowed away will pass down to my son once I'm confident he will take care of them.
I am a fan of X-Men too but Marvel always made up the smallest part of my collection. |

Has anybody actually seen Ant Man? Aunt Bware is taking the niece and nephew to a movie and we are deciding between this and Minions. |

^^^ I'm prolly going to see it today or tomorrow. From everything I've been hearing, The Minions Movie trends a bit younger, so you might want to base your decision on the kids' ages. |

@Joker- My understanding of Harley was that she was made up for Batman the Animated Series and was retconned into the comics, similar to Marvel and Agent Coulson. |

Okay. I just saw Ant-Man, and it is very good. Far better than it has any right to be. It is less of a superhero movie and more of a crime caper/heist film with some fantastic elements. Definitely worth watching as an adult but, while there's nothing wrong it in for kids, I could see it failing to capture/hold their attention.
And, @Joker/Bill -- Harley Quinn first appeared in the Batman: The Animated Series TV show, created by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm. Later, Dini and Timm introduced her into comics through the non-canon Batman: TAS one-shot "Mad Love". Later still, she was actually introduced into the DCU through (I believe) a different "Harley Quinn" one-shot.
I loved the animated series Harley, never cared for the one in the comics. The comics' version is darker, more sadistic, and even drops hints about her being a dominatrix. Why do we need another Catwoman in the DCU, when the original Harley was so delightfully goofy and such a great counterpoint to Mr. J? |

I believe it goes deeper than that. It's chaotic love and you're right. There is a counterpoint there that Catwoman does not provide in the comics. Dominatrix or not, those two were the best at what they did in creating absolute anarchy together in the darkest form imaginable, but that does not mean that darkness does not have a sadistic side formed at the core.
To say that their relationship did not also have the sad side of manipulative and abusive is an understatement. It's a mirror image of beauty and pure evil. When they both worked together they made for the craziest villains around. When they worked against each other, it was a sad tale of the evil that happens at the core of being psychotic villains.
It is a counterpoint within the counterpoint. You can love both Harley and Joker for the beautiful chaos they create together, but before you go loving the villain for their spontaneity you are forced to look at the ugly side of their core personal values and weaknesses. |

By popular (okay, by bware’s) demand, I have been asked to tell you the story of a unique little collectible I own…
Crisis on Infinite Earths, for anyone who may not know, is one of the coolest things that DC has ever published. Yeah, it’s one of those universe-spanning mega-crossovers we see every couple of years that shakes the very foundations of the DCU, blah-blah-blah. However, Crisis was different because, not only was it the *first* universe-spanning mega-crossover, but it actually brought about some major changes to the DCU. Plus, series artist George Perez undertook the Herculean task of drawing every DC superhero ever in the series. All told, I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve bought the stupid series – I own the original issues, a trade paperback or two, and the really awesome Absolute edition DC put out a few years back.
But this isn’t about any of those. Back in the late 90’s, DC decided to publish a really nice slipcased hardbound edition of Crisis and, to commemorate this edition, DC commissioned a new cover, penciled by George Perez and painted by Alex Ross (the Marvels/Kingdom Come guy). This was the first time that DC had done a really high-quality version of Crisis and every fanboy was drooling in anticipation. The problem was, a week before the book was due to arrive in stores, DC had to recall it. During the restoration process, DC needed to re-ink portions of the black-and-white sections running along the bottoms of the pages in issue 10 and, somehow, one of these newly inked portions got repeated on two pages. The books were recalled before they shipped to stores, DC made the correction, and then released the corrected book a few months later.
Fast-forward a few years and, in the wake of 9/11, Oni Press decided to organize a huge charity auction where comic creators would donate various comics-related merchandise, the goodies would be auctioned off on eBay, and all proceeds would go to one of the 9/11 charities. It was a great way for the community to come together, the fans had lots of opportunities to get some unique or hard-to-find collectibles, and we all got to support a worthy charity. To make a long story (sort of) short, one of the items I ended up winning was a signed copy of the Crisis hardcover directly from series writer Marv Wolfman’s personal collection. However, I didn’t expect Marv to write a very nice dedication related to 9/11 in the book, and I really didn’t expect the book to be an unrecalled error version.
Fast-forward another year or two and I had the good fortune to see George Perez at one of the comic shows I attended. George, for those of you who have never had the pleasure to meet the man, is one of the nicest guys in comics. He is loud, gregarious, and has the amazing ability to make everyone in his presence feel like his friend. Plus, he has a huge charitable streak and when he attends a con, he will frequently spend several hours a day signing books and drawing sketches with all of his proceeds going to a charity.
So, I walked up to George, said hello, handed him my Crisis hardcover, and put a couple of bucks in his jar. George opened the book, looked at Marv’s dedication, and got an odd look on his face, so I explained what the book was and how I acquired it. George then picked up a Sharpie, gave me a grin, and said “Well, I can’t let Marv outdo me…” and, before I knew it, he drew this awesome head shot of Captain America with a tear rolling down his cheek and, in the background, the outline of a building with two stars on top of it.
I have since had my Crisis hardcover signed by Dick Giordano, Alex Ross and (I think) Jerry Ordway and they have all had the same reaction: “George drew Captain America in a DC book?” which means, of course, that I need to go through the whole story of what the book is and how I got it. So, I think it’s pretty safe to say that I have the only 9/11 Captain America variant of the unrecalled Crisis hardcover in existence, along with it being an awesome keepsake and reminder of a comics legend and an all-around nice guy. |

The Trailer for the Deadpool Trailer:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPZHBjyUGhQ
The red band trailer is supposed to air on The Conan O'Brian Show tonight. After that it will be all over the interwebs...
I've already viewed the version that "leaked" from Comic-Con, but I still can't wait to see it in HD. |

^^^ Man, I went nuts when I saw the "leaked" trailer. That thing was so insanely kinetic I have no idea if they can keep up the pace for the entire movie but I can't wait to find out.
And, just out of curiosity, am I the only person who's looking forward to the Fantastic Four reboot? |
