No! crumpets are crumpets (not bloody bagels) stick them under the grill and when toasted add the butter. Simple Wink

Gotta say. I'm disappointed with my English Compatriots here. All this talk about crumpets - and even pictures - but not one mention of a crumpet's best possible topping (after the butter, of course) - Marmite! Very Happy

ETA: Whoa there, Reverend^^^ One tablespoon = 18ml; one dessert spoon = 12ml! One third less in volume!

A dessert spoon is what you eat your pudding with, a table spoon is what you dish it up with!

@KOD- this is Marmite, its tastes, looks and smells absolutely vile, in fact the official tagline promoted by Marmite is 'you either love it or hate it'.

^^^Marmite is a yeast extract in paste form, sold in cute little brown jars. It's delicious! (Although I have to tell you that even the manufacturers state very honestly that you either love it or hate it!)

I once discovered a dusty jar of it at the back of a shelf in a souk in Saudi Arabia. It cost me about five times more than it would have cost in an English supermarket (even with haggling) but I just had to have it. I gave my American colleague a taste on a slice of toast. The expression on his face will live in my memory forever. But he was very polite, describing the taste as "Interesting" Twisted Evil

ETA (again): What's the betting one of our Aussie friends chips in with a laudatory about Vegemite - a cheeky, but somewhat bland, nevertheless, tasty, copy of Marmite, which looks and smells even more disgusting! Laughing

^ No chance of that stuff in the UK, the stingy arse owner closes the nearest shop at about 10pm just out of laziness. We have an Asda (UK version Walmart, owned by Walmart) thats open 24 hours but at 3.08 AM I don't think its worth the drive, even ift I can't sleep. This thread is well and truly ninja'ed.

Awwwww, don't beat yourself up over it, FM ... I am a freelance writer by profession, and I understand exactly what you're talking about.

Take a break from it, Friend ... play with a lad or two for awhile. You just need a short sabbatical!

I'm staying out of Fake Sites for a while until I can bring myself to do it again, I just can't get the motivation for site killig. You're right I need a break from it Smile
