I have really messed up here. I am fresh off a writer's site where we curse all the time. <Website removed - bware419ers>... You can search me out on the Connect forum with my username there too. Judgmental fuck was actually meant to be a sort of joke. Seems that doesn't pan out well out here and I really am sorry...
About the people who think I may well be a scammer too, I understand I do have to earn your trust. Believe me, if I were a scammer, I wouldn't write a book that exposes lads so much. For those who think I have nothing new to bring to the table, how about I ask if you knew scammers here also use black magic?
Yes they do and I want to believe that thing works. I am a Christian and normally wouldn't care about voodoo but when I see a stark illiterate scammer con a well educated middle aged white guy of thousands of dollars(lad's evil unbelievable english considered) you start believing some Tinker-bell charm is at work if you know what I mean.(Trying not to use a curse word here
Someone asked how I know so much about scammer lingo. Well, my friend, when you live in Nigeria, you can't help having at least one scammer be a friend or a friend of the family or a friend of a friend. Not to mention that my roommate back in University was one. He is dead now. Died under mysterious circumstances and my book was inspired by him and his friends' story.
Someone asked about clubs for scammers. There are lots of clubs in Nigeria. Forget what you've heard before. Scammers now own computers. Only the poor starters still use cybercafes. Secondly, Nigeria is not some dusty village. Lots of beautiful exotic places for scammers to party like a rapstar.
Someone asked what distinguished a rich scammer. Ill say this, I've met scammers during research for my book and some were actually worth a few million dollars. How do I know? They brag about it all the time. Also, bankers are in on it too. Cyberscam is organized crime out here now. It has evolved. This is why I pit cyber-scammers against the Italian mob in my book just to see how that would fare for them greedy lads.
Thank you. |

Sorry, but you're not telling us anything we don't already know - many of us will happily throw black magic and voodoo curses at lads to freak them out. |

It's purely psychological.
The lads that we get to take a picture of themselves holding a silly sign or to travel halfway across Africa for example are blinded by pure greed, while the victim's usual thought process which would normally say this is a scam is clouded by the thought of having a better life because Mr Williams Peter has told them they have a large windfall coming their way. |

Hi S3gun! Welcome to Eater!
Please be careful not to post anything on the forums that would connect to your real identity; you can't be too safe, especially given your location.
I feel like an open offer is an open offer, so I'll bite. You said your former roommate was a scammer. What was that like? Did he have an Oga or an organization? Was he successful? |

Personally i can see why people are reserved about the OP. I for one will welcome him, if he is truely who he says he is then he could be a great asset to our community.
I get people are very knowledgable already on certain subjects but whats better than someone whos experienced everything first hand and up close?
I'd like a list of common Pigin words, as my Pigin is non existant.
Welcome aboard |

I'll admit to being a little skeptical when I first saw this thread the other day and I've hesitated about posting, but now I'm willing to give the guy a chance. I know not ALL Nigerians are scammers, but the baiting world does tend to make us a little paranoid.

Thanks for the welcome. Much appreciated!
Someone up there said the voodoo thing is pure psychology. I wish I could believe that. You'd never con me by telling me there's a windfall coming my way. That tale aint getting you my hard-earned money. You want to tell me some illiterate teenager is wiser than a college educated middle-aged man? True there are some dumb people but you need to see how many successful crimes that have been pulled off by school dropouts and how stupid the scam formats are. Besides, I mentioned earlier that my friend died mysteriously, didn't I? This scam thing in connection with voodoo goes way deeper than you think. I know most people here know so much about Nigeria already and I'm quite humbled but I'll still go ahead and say my piece. Anyways, about the scam+voodoo thing, it has gained ground so much that scammers are now classified in the country.
1. Yahoo yahoo(This is the normal form of psychology scam you were referring to)
2. Yahoo plus (This means scam+voodoo)
This is how Nigerians classify the boys...and the girls.
The voodoo thing has gained ground so much that they have a different name. You are free to think it is all psychology. We are all entitled to our opinions. I want to believe that it's nothing more than some crazy super-smart kid high on some lab created isotope who can fuck with ordinary westerner's minds, but I just can't let it go at that. I can't stop leaning towards the supernatural when I hear some stories. Some stories like some people are actually still sending money to phantom ladies in Africa even in this age. When I say money, I mean serious dollars. I have a brother in Chicago and cousins in London so I go to the western union every once in a while and see these boys. Believe me, they are buying cars every single day and still living large. And the people sending those dollars aren't some hillbillies. They're women and men who are at least up to the average level of man intelligence that us unexciting ordinary lots have.(We lack the super-smart brain of the lab created scammer remember).
Also, the way my friend died has remained a mystery. I also want you to know he isn't the only boy who has died this way. And the thing that freaks me out is that when we hear these strange sudden deaths, they are usually the boys categorised as yahoo boy plus.(The voodoo super-rich kinds)
Oh, and for the person that wanted to know how my roommate lived in school, he was rich back on campus. His clique was voted richest dudes on campus back then. He came from an originally middle-class family but his father was assassinated when he was a toddler and that kinda sealed the family's fate. They became poor. He rebelled against his mother's conservative way and joined the band-wagon in school. He was successful and came home with different black magic stuff on different nights and when we had a fight over this, his new "friends" advised him to move out.
He was pretty decent with me though. I can remember him helping me out on few occasions with cash for stuff in school. Makes you see the world not as black and white don't you think?
He ruled school with his friends. They got all the best girls and where at all the better parties and clubs. But in the end, he died suddenly. I feel for him cuz I knew him the way nobody else might have known him. He was a good guy who chose the wrong pill.
However, there are also rich kids who engage in cyber-crime. It has become such part of popular culture that some parents, the poverty stricken ones, encourage their children to go out and do it.
Scammers are also not only teenagers. There are married men involved too. Some also kind of grew on the job. The scammer who started fifteen years ago is now a veteran with other scammers that work for him. It has become an international epic tale of true crime. Egyptians work for Nigerian cyber-crime boss as hackers, indians and even Americans and Russians. I met a man sometime ago. He is big. Went to Dubai and cruised round town in a Ferrari. The police checked out the rich black dude with the humongous dog-chain and discovered he was up to know good. Guess what? He was disguised as a minister and out to con a certain British guy of a million pounds supposed to buy an oil well in Nigeria. The white guy connected him through his phantom lover who supposedly works in the oil sector.
If said scammer hadn't been flamboyant, he'd have gotten off. Anyways, he got three years but lo and behold, he spent six months and is back in Nigeria cruising an escalade; one of so many cars.
For pidgin, I don't even know where to start. It is a language by itself. I don't know how well you know pidgin, but here are some:
Wetin means What.
Dey means Is.
So if you said "wetin dey happen?" You are saying "What is happening?"
And "working boy" is another name for a scammer out here. |

I'm sorry, but it's hardly a matter of opinion when dozens of academic studies have been written on the subject and they all agree that the scams are psychologically rather sophisticated and target well known weaknesses in human psyche. Romance scams so especially. |

If this voodoo is so real, why aren't a large number of us baiters dead from all the pathetic curses that lads have apparently put on us?
It's because we know it is bullshit and that the only people that it affects are those that believe in it and that affect is purely psychological - if you believe in something strongly enough then you're going to believe that any misfortune that happens to you is due to the curse that has been put on you. |

My first lad cursed me to be killed by a magical flying motorbike. I'm still here, using a tortoise as a footrest on the advice of a charlatan fetish priest isn't going to make you a more succesful scammer. |

Thank you for posting the information you have. While most of it is well known here, you did come back and post.
Please do some searching around and you can get an idea of the knowledge (of scammers) that Eater has.

s3gun - I think you will be surprised at the level of knowledge some people have here on scams, including those originating from West Africa. Best way to get into the community here is just to read and post. Participate in discussions. Being based in the region, you are in a great position to help folks out should they ask in areas such as the latest/hottest clubs, etc. You are not the only West African here. We have folks from all over the world. |
