Stupid Microsoft OS Computer Scammers

I've had half a dozen "Microsoft" calls to my landline over the last couple of years.

Three times I've been given the "use your eventvwr" spiel, so I've looked around, and said I can't see anything unusual. After a spate of "There is something wrong" and "No there isn't" the guy hangs up.

Once I did the above and finally "admitted" to seeing something worrying, at which point the caller said that their engineer would be called in. I said "Is this the bit where you remote-access my computer and insert a virus package?" - and the caller was furious!

The last two times the reception has been so bad that about the only thing I said was "Speak up, I can't hear you!"

Here is their Website. I LOVE the testiclemonials! The UK Phone number is disconnected due to a BREACH OF TERMS OF SERVICE!

I am going to feed the baby and try to record a call to them on their US number. I did try to pay them by cheque last time they called, I popped it in to the DVD rewriter on me computer for the little loves to pick up! They never did!

Yeah Ex-directory just means you're not in any phone books and directory inquiries wont disclose your number.

By law, if your number is registered with TPS (as mine is), then organisations must have your consent before calling you (interestingly, I've had some utilities companies send me a text message first asking if it's okay for them to call my TPS registered mobile).
Unsolicited cold calls to a TPS registered number is against the law, and it's this list of phone numbers that organisations need to check before calling a randomly generated number.

@Ewok, noticed how the 'testiclemonials' all read like they've been written by the same person?...
