Now that I think about it, a smart person clutching at this kind of straw is not really much of a surprise. In a s�tuation where it's life or death for someone you care about and no other way out is in sight, you'd rather waste that kind of a small sum on a lie than risk the 0.00000000000001% chance that the cure was actually real.
You'd never be able to eliminate that small chance in your mind and, thus, you would never be able to forgive yourself if you didn't act on it.
It's pretty understandable, sadly. :\

At the risk of getting trouble from a Mod for necro-ing an old thread, did anyone who emailed this guy find that the baiter account they used started to get unsolicited scam mails?

The baiter account I used has, and I wouldn't have thought that unhappy lads that had encountered it in the past would pass on an "unproductive" email address to other lads (unless they hated them).

So I was wondering if this spam has turned into the weirdest form of email address harvesting? Not a smart place to start, I'd have thought Rolling Eyes

^^^Hum, interesting. I can't say one way or another as all the boxes I sent him an email from are being spammed pretty heavily. I will try from a fresh gmail account. I'm still getting emails from the man but its worse than the vlads. I can hardly understand the Babelfish and there are no girls in lingerie. No requests for money, just anecdotal stories of cancer cures. It would be sad if someone were to give up medical treatment for this.

Even more curious - I didn't get a single peep after I emailed him, which is why I thought it might be a harvesting job.

My character accounts don't tend to get any spam as they are created and used solely for my pets. Maybe I'm not trying hard enough if they don't feel so peeved that they sign me up for pr0n Laughing
