It's been about six months since the US Safari bait came to an end. I always figured that eventually one of the lads would come back. This is a bait that has been self-sustaining for 5 or 6 years (maybe more, I can't remember). Every once in a while it springs to life, and in every case the lad knows the full backstory.

Out of the blue I just got a recovery scam email:

Some Nigerians,and U.S.A internet fraud stars were arrested a month ago
and we've been carrying out some undercover investigations, on our research your name
came up with your personal informations.
We want to ask for your cooperation as we try to rap up the investigation. Also some funds
were recovered and we need more information from victims in other to know the exact way
on how we can compensate them.
Futher more it will interest you to know that there are alot more other victims these same people have been ripping them off.

So, is this the return of Atlanta Lad? Sure seems likely, though the writing style sounds slightly off -- more like Lagos Lad. Could the latter have a new accomplice in the US? Long shot. We'll just have to wait and see.

Anyway, I'll start off slow and see where this leads.

EDIT TO ADD: duh. I should have thought to look at old mails from Atlanta Lad and cross-reference the IP. Same one. Atlanta Lad returns.

I hope we can find a way to destroy him. I'm not sure how this will play out. This is out of character for him. He told my fake lad that he doesn't do formats; he's a face-to-face wash-wash specialist. So this is new territory.

He is still verbose:

just sad, that he came back a short time after the FIS skiing world cup in beavar creek and vail. he should have done that before the skiing world cup.

but there are plenty of other situations to make his life miserable.

This is so fascinating. The writing style seems more like Lagos lad than Atlanta lad. Sure sounds like they bought the whole "Fake lad is to blame for all the disappointments" angle. In fact, sounds like they've spent the past few months fuming over this and have decided to put an end to his lucrative relationship with the victim. They also seem to be on a quest to get as many details as possible about Fake lad from the victim.

Of course...the main goal will be another chance to try to fleece the victim for as much as they can steal...but also sounds like they've developed quite an obsession with Fake lad.

Given the exact IP match, comparing today's with one from September, there's no question it's our old lad. I seriously doubt that Lagos Lad is involved, however. From what AL said to Fake Lad he was not happy about Lagos Lad running him through the ringer -- and making him spend a lot of money.

On the other hand, he is pretending to be in Nigeria. I'm curious to see how this plays out. It could be hard to safari him if he sticks to his new format. Sue won't be sending any money by WU or MG, but there's always a courier service. Wink

Oh...sorry...I hadn't realized he was pretending to be in Nigeria. I'd not actually thought about where this "Interpool" was supposed to be mailing from...just thought he was pretending to be from some large European or global law enforcement entity...that had just arrested some "Nigerians and US-based fraud stars".

I'm probably WAY too interested in this but after reading here almost daily for many years (since about 2007)...this is just so different from most of what I've read here and furthermore, I'm in the US and this guy is a few states south of me. He's not only in the US but in his photo looked too old to be an undergrad student, seemed to have plenty of money, was able to jet back and forth multiple times across the country...and is pulling off wash- wash scams right here. Hell, he saw more of the US in just a few months than I've seen in all my 62 years of life.

I'm really interested in this one and will be following closely.
