I realised that I was fairly swamped by baits and, although I'm doing straight baits, I can't resist a little artistic flair so I can't always remember what my story is. So I've decided, in true nerdy guy fashion, to make a database for quick reference so I know what I'm doing to each one so I don't mess up (they probably wouldn't notice anyway).
So, just out of curiosity, how do you juggle multiple baits?
[edit: I realised as well that I said "so" far too many times. So sue me you so and so] |

A while back I found myself with far too many lads and got really mixed up with who was who. Recently I've chopped down to just a few and found it works a lot better. |

I've got about 5 at the moment, just experimenting with different things.
But I can easily see that becoming more complicated with more baits.
Looks like I'll have to whip out Access and get some sort of database going. |

I have a word table to keep track of which addy is baiting who, when it was last checked and a one liner of what I was going to do next or what he wants from me.
Coupled to that I cut and paste e-mails from baits that look like they are going somewhere and colour code him - black, me - blue, 2nd him red, replies to 2nd him in green.
So, to refresh my memory I whizz through the record if need be.
I have a folder called 'trophy cabinet' in which I keep copies of all the stuff they send in terms of ID, phone messages etc. each bait is kept in it own sub-folder. |

I use one basic character type (east Asian, living in UK, with very poor english skills and very irregular access to emails), mainly because I'm too inept to juggle different characters and keep track of who is who.
For each bait I keep two mail folders, one containing only the most important messages to the storyline, and the other containing everything else (including my "Sent" messages--this is quite important for future reference).
I also keep one "message" in my draft box, containing a short summary of the scammers who go together and what they have demanded/received.
But I don't consult them very often; any mistakes I make can be attributed to the communication gap. |

I have several characters all with varying personas and generally the same level of english.
Half the time I wing it, the other half I remember who is who.
If worst comes to worst I just ignore their email for a while, usually they come back to me and I feign amnesia from a nasty concussion a few days prior... we start over |

I generally bait like the mugus scam. Typically, my baits are started by ASEMs. So, I have a standard set of scripts that I use. I cut and past pretty much, for the first few emails. Then I usually weed out the non-cooperatives by that point. So from then on, it is easy to remember who is who. I may even 'pass them up' to another character higher on the chain. For some reason it is funny to see the same exact scam run on them the same exact way. They never realize it. |

I play a similar character in all my baits, but it's boring working to a script when you're doing IM chats, so I play it by ear and see what direction I can take them in. |

One day I might pick up 10 or 15 from the surplus and see how they play it for 2 or 3 emails, then I make my pick and stretch one or two to the max. The rest gets deleted. The fun ones I save all emails in Google mail and work out a "plan" to "help" them better
My first lad runs on a special character and has been with me for a year. I'm trying to get to him with a few other characters, but sofar he's a bit difficult in accepting them.
All the fun ones have a diretory where I keep their pictures, forms and the stuff I have send them.
Usually RL screws things up and I'm not able to get to the computer for days or weeks, the ones that stay with me then are my favorites and when I'm bored I pick up a few more to keep the flow going.
It's like the television, if you don't like the show, change the lad |
