Please excuse my ignorance but I do not understand why a number of recently joined members put Hahaha or Hehehe in their posts.
I know that I'm only a young girl and also that modern trends do not always arrive in Belarus as fast as in the rest of the world but I'm confused with this one.
Help explain please. |

I can't say I'd noticed it much myself, but a few searches throws up some interesting results:
markmywords has said "hahaha" in 8 different threads, all seem to be within the last week.
SlapHappy has said "hehehe" in (wait for it) 126 different threads. As the big fish with the high voice in Finding Nemo would say "Golly, that's amazing!" |

In just about every forum that I've haunted there are always a few people who do this. I'm genuinely surprised noone has encountered it here before. I suppose everyone is different, but it seems generally to be to do with IRC/IM people reluctant or unsure about putting in LOL or LMAO in a forum. It generally stops after a few posts, consider it some kind of transition.
Or else its comedy finger tourettes, which is a serious disorder. |

Because us humans enjoy laughing, and sometimes it's difficult to express ones self on a forum when we find the content highly amusing. I often break out the 'HAHA!' when I am really impressed, or find something particularly mirthful. I'm always afraid of using too many emotion icons since they truly never convey my real feelings.
I think if we are to giggle like school girls, we should has least reduce the amount of 'hahahahaha' and 'hehehehe' to only double 'HAHA!' and 'HEHE'. Optional capitalisation on these versions.
Right now, I'm just really happy Josh figured out how to use the search function, even if it was for a pointless search.  |

Oh what's the problem with giggling like a schoolgirl? (no offense meant to any giggling schoolgirls of course) Maybe a few people just log on after watching Beavis & Butthead too much, or maybe it's the vicodin talking.
The fact is, there have been enough words and phrases edited out of these forums (oh yes they are), and if people wanna throw in a little ganja-giggle instead of the smileys, what's the problem? Well I might just have a suitable solution for this: (waving my jedi-hand) That doesn't bother you.
Considering the number of pirate names and avatars in here, I'm personally surprised that "Arrrrrrrrr!" isn't used more often. Then again I've never looked. Most days, I'm glad I'm not a mod.

I sometimes use HAHAHA (yes, all caps) because the laughing emoticons don't laugh hard enough unless I'm un-lazy enough to go to the "more emoticons". I apologize for this, but I may not cease the behavior. I much prefer it to the style of ending every sentence with LOL, or worse, lol.
