Had a call at 10:30am EST Saturday. The person on the other end kept asking for my name as well as fax number and email address. The caller had the typical Nigerian accent and indicated he was calling from Nigeria. The caller never asked to speak to anyone by name - just kept asking for the above info , as he wanted to send something.
Is this a new tactic that they are trying - blind calling a number at random?? The guy actually ended up calling 4 times over a 10 minute period.
Not exactly an effective scam tactic! |

Keep him on the phone, keep asking him to repeat himself, bad line etc, have some "accidental" cutoffs too if you think he'll phone back.
Knock up their phone bill.
As for why they'd want the details... maybe so they can reference you by name when spamming you to make it more convincing? Maybe wait a month or two and send you a generic, or perhaps they've got a new template to work from that ties in to this.
Maybe they're building up a database of phone numbers -> fax numbers -> email addresses -> home addresses if they're using a phone book.
One to be wary of in any case. |

Not to pry, but how did he get your phone number? Was it home or business? If business, I can understand.
If home, obviously get your number changed.

Never gave the person any info. It was my home number. Googled it and the only thing that came up was the normal phone listing. |
