Having worked as an IT bod with criminal investigators on computer stuff related to less unpleasant crimes I would concur with the keep oooof in terms of transmitted information etc.

The investigating forensic bods will go through the used and free sectors of a suspect's hard drive with a fine tooth comb using specialist tools to extract and present evidence as reliably as possible. Not only could any intentionally sent "honey trap" crap on there prejudice an investigation and lead them down blind alleys, wasting time and effort (the worst thing ever you could possibly do and the reverse of the intent), there may well be enough information to lead them back to the person who sent it. These aren't lads, they DO know what an IP address is, and at the very least, you'd be in big doodoos for wasting police time.

I found out in February that some guy who used to post on a forum I used to post on years ago was caught by a TV show that exposes paedos in America. Couldnt believe it, he was actually a cool guy. He's on perverted-justice.com too.

Just my 10 cents. Some of you may remember my ethics 'discussion' earlier today. Well, this is one crime where I say 'leave em twisting by their b****cks from the nearest tree'. I have children, my eldest, a very pretty girl almost exactly the same age as Madeline McCann. My blood runs cold whenever I have had anything to do with these sub human creatures. I will confess that I used to practice my hacking skills on these b****rds long ago and given the oportunity, I would have no hesitation in burning them down. However, as others have pointed out, this type of crime requires very careful investigation since often the main witness is far to young to understand what has happened, let alone explain it in court to a hostile lawyer. Law enforcement authorities in all our respective countries need help, but sometimes, that help hinders and does more damage. Be vigilant, if you come across this stuff, report it, to everyone who will listen, dont participate. I read somewhere that the officers who's job it is to watch the mountains of video evidence they get often burn out within months. Some of the stuff out there is too horrific for words. I stopped going after them because I came across something that has given me nightmares ever since then. About once a month I dream about what I saw and I have to rush to the toilet to throw up. I helped another hacker get him arrested and I am proud of that. I hope they put him in geneal population. Baiting is meant to be fun, believe me, you dont want to go down the horrific rabbit hole that is paedophilia, even to catch them.

I would do anything I can to help out, but after lurking at PeeJ for a while last year I just couldn't force myself into it. I just couldn't. It's not nice at all, I threw up when I first read one of their chatlogs.
And plus, living in the UK doesn't put me the in the greatest position to catch American ones. But so help me God if they bring it the UK, I'll go through hell and back to help it succeed.

The chat logs are disgusting. Some of the things that are said should never pass the ears of children so young. Unfortunately, it's just the tip of the iceburg. Those chat logs were by 'wannabe's', they like to fantasise. Burn them, move on. I would want to catch the b****ds that go after really young children, children that have no idea what is happening, children too young to articulate what was done to them. I agree with Dizzy, if they introduced something similar here, I would burn paedo's all day and hang the consequences. I cannot get what I saw out of my mind and sometimes it makes me cry. I see my own beautiful happy daughter superimposed and my stomach turns. Dont go there, you will not like what your brain does with the information.

Man this subject just pisses me off!

To avoid launching into a useless rant . . . almost have the cat cornered . . . I recommend the amazing documentary Capturing the Freidmans.

To explain, a documentarian wanted to do a documentary about the high-paid clowns of New York City--no, not Alex Rodriguez [Get on with it!--Ed.] These guys get paid the $$$ for private birthday parties and the like.

In looking through the shots of the highest paid clown, a friend/editor/producer asked the filmmaker the great question: "Why is the clown so angry!"

Not to spoil anything, but the clowns father and brother were indicted for child molestation. The family also filmed EVERYTHING they did. That, in and of itself, is amazing. So you can have a police detective declare "they did this" only to see what they actually did.

Goodbye Clown-Documentary, hello a film that should have won the Best Documentary Oscar[Tm.--Ed.]

To avoid spoiling it, with one the charges seem clear. With the other? I do not know. As a lawyer friend puts it, "when you are facing geological sentences, you will confess to anything."
