This is the first bait I've done where the scammer seemed to really be ready to cooperate with my side of things. It is also the first that I've published on here. At this point (Feb. 14, 2007) it is still ongoing but I wanted to post it here to see if anyone had any tips, feedback, or suggestions for me at this point. Other than one other bait that fizzled out with some doofus who couldn't get over his need for me to work with a security company, this is my longest one to date.

Also, Fanny I hope you don't mind me using your slick little divider image. If you do, I can take it out of the post...let me know.

For this bait I am playing the part of Pastor of the Lark Mission church in Yellow Springs, Michigan. Of course there is no such church nor city nor pastor! Good thing the scammers aren't smart enough to realize what my character's name actually says, and that Lark Mission has a secondary meaning.

Lark : a source of or quest for amusement or adventure.
Mission : a body of persons sent to perform a service or carry on an activity.

Thank you for your response. I can confidently say that Lark Mission church will be able to provide, at the very least, a monetary donation to aid your situation. Before that happens you will have to fill out an application to get our approval process started. Are you willing to do that? As far as adopting the children, that is something that will be discussed by the church board before any other steps are taken.

Tell me, do you happen to know approximately how much money you would request for this donation? If you do, please let me know. Depending on the amount, I may have to fill out some additional paperwork as well as speaking to some of the elders here about the case. Actually, I will simply attach the application to this email. If you can fill it in and email it back to me, that would be great. Then I can get the ball rolling for you.

Thanks again and i appreciate your kind gesture towrads helping us through your church board and i do know that is the highest body of the church that can make or take final decision in matters of this nature. But do me well by sending across your fax number to make it more easier for me to send in my application and other basic requirement from your church.

My brother in the lord you are God sent as a helper in his vine yard. But for your assistance is higly welcomed in our orphanage homes. In our orphanage home we have about 108 children under my custody.From time to time christian brothers and sisters come as individual to assist us and government too but this time it is very hard because of the bad economic drive that is on.

For this little lad they eat at will, as a mother or father having a child you should understand what i mean the baby food is very expensive but we manage to see that we keep them alive and going too. That is if you ask me to evaluate the help you can in terms of funds to be given. I can't really tell you this is what you can give to us weather in cloths or in food items or drugs for the kids or in toys etc.

My friend they are numerious need and cost more. But you can help me out in terms of the evaluation out of 108 kids per head in terms of all that i have mentioned to you we spend at list $40 to $50 per each child depending and some people give us donation from associations $5,000.00 to $10,000.00 Dollars and individual give us what ever their hearts tells them to give.In all of this your widows mi...................... is all the lord appreciates.

Thank you for sending the documents and your mission statement. I apologize for not getting back to you sooner. A member of my congregation has fallen ill and I spent the last day and a half at her side in the hospital spending time with her and her family and praying with them. She's not out of the woods yet, but I believe that she will recover soon.

Regarding your application, it's going to be considered by the board of elders later today. I've convinced them that, despite the slightly late submission, your cause is worthy of a look. Before things can be completely taken into consideration, however, I do have a couple questions for you that I must ask in order to clear up some confusion on this end. One of the items on the application was labelled "Sexual Preference" to which you answered "Female". Are you aware that that means you prefer women as sexual partners, and not men? In other words, it tells us that you are a lesbian. Please confirm whether or not that is true. I should make it clear that as a church that strictly adheres to the Word of God, we do not condone homosexuality, nor would we approve an application submitted to us by a church or any other organization that promotes or turns a blind eye to homosexuality. Mind you, we still do care about people who do prefer same-sex partners, it is the sin that we do not agree with, and therefore cannot associate ourselves as an organization with such behavior. So please do clear that up for me. The other detail that I need to know about is regarding your name. You have been going by the name Mrs. Macathy, however on the application it says your name is Mrs. Angel C. Ukah. Can you explain the discrepancy please?

The rest of the information looks very good and, assuming the answers you send back are ones that agree with the beliefs of Lark Mission and the Bible, I have a strong sense that your application will be approved quickly. I will keep you informed as things move forward.

How are things over there at the orphanage? Hopefully very well! We have been having some very unpleasant weather of late. Over the last week we have had a great deal of snow and disagreeable weather. Unfortunately the forecast is calling for more of it, so it appears that warmth is still a ways off.

Thanking you for your observation and that shows that you read thrugh it very well and have made your observations which i need to clear.
Let me start with the sexual preference which i did not understand because i have too many things running across my mind couple with the kids that are very sick and i came rushing in and just writing and sending it across to you because of the preasure and i hopw you will understand.
Now i'm a woman married to a man called Mr. Jeoffery Ukah who is now late may his soul rest in peace Ok. That is why you see me bear the name Mrs Angel C. Ukah in the form i sent to you and at the bottom of the application you now so another name called Mr Kenneth O. Macathy who is my husband now but our family book has not been given to us by the authorities both from the government and the church because we just joined together last week and by Monday we shall be going to collect our family book from the authorities. That is when i shall fully answer Mrs Angel C. Macathy. But for now my passport bear the first name on the application and every other document that i used in the registration of the ophanage bear my name and my late husband. So how do i tell you all of this in the application? It is difficult isn't it?
So please forgive me if the names confused both you and the elders of your church i was waiting that you will ask and then i can have the opportunity of telling you my plight. God bless you. If you ask me about the kids some are ok some are very sick and feeding is a bigger problem this is a sad story and a bitter truth, but i have to tell you and that is how bad our situation is here in the orphanage home. First I need to assure you that your answers to my questions are very clear and, in my opinion, acceptable. I'm very comfortable with your explanations and don't think you have anything to worry about when the elders meet to discuss your application in a couple hours. Again, thank you for your thorough response. I'm glad to know that you're passionate about your cause and your desire to make clear your good intent and nature for this process.

The next step is going to be for the elders to read through your information and application while they discuss whether or not to grant you any amount of donation money. If they do decide to do so, they will then need to determine how much, if not all, of the amount you requested. My personal opinion is that you will get the full amount, but as it is not my decision to make, I will simply say that we don't have a lot of applicants from your area in Africa, so that will give your cause a significant advantage since we are trying to diversify our outreach right now.

Assuming that they do approve your application, the following step will involve gathering more information. We typically prefer to receive this information through two ways: pictures and documented. Basically what will be needed for the documentation part is a detailed description of how the funds will be allocated. In other words, a list of everything that will be purchased with the donation. It doesn't have to be extremely detailed and exact, but it needs to show that this money won't be used on non-essential things. If you have any questions about this, let me know. For the pictures we like to see the area, building, and people who will be directly affected by the fruits of the donation. In your case, this would mean pictures of the children at the orphanage, the staff that works there, the building that the orphanage uses, and so on. We do require that pictures be sent as evidence that we're donating to a just cause, but also to put on the wall in our church for members of the congregation to look at so they can see where their money is being put to work for the Lord. I'm sure they will really appreciate seeing pictures of the orphans there; that type of thing always hits home with the people here.

As I said, the documentation and pictures are not necessary at this point in the process, but you may want to start thinking about getting that stuff ready. It will save time after the application is approved and will definitely help in putting your ministry in great standing with the elders here. They greatly appreciate timeliness and thoughtfullness.

After that the elders will need to examine the list and pictures to make sure everything looks acceptable. I've no memory of them ever having a problems with this step in the process. Once that is done, there will be a few more forms to complete as well as some stuff, mostly paper work, on this end that usually takes a few days. Then we should be ready to send you the funds. I will keep you informed of the progress and the outcome of the meeting this morning.

We've been having some very poor winter weather here for the last couple days and the elders had to postpone their meeting that was scheduled for yesterday morning. Today I had to cancel all of the church events and told all of the church staff to stay home and avoid driving on the icy roads. Thank you for your patience once again. The weather here has not yet gotten better. The roads are slick with ice and the temperature has been below 0 degrees farenheit for almost a week. Needless to say it's causing some problems. One member of my congregation was in a very bad car accident two days ago. Luckily she's alive, but she has a few broken ribs, a fractured kneecap, a broken leg, and a severe concussion. The person who hit her was drunk and didn't get hurt. He was lucky.

All that said, I have not been in direct contact with the elders regarding their decision about your application. However they did leave me a note that says your application was accepted and approved! God bless! The note also mentions that they wanted to see another document, but it doesn't go into any detail about which document that might be. So I'm going to try and track one of them down to find out the details. The note also states that I should remind you of an upcoming event that we do here at Lark Mission. Each year we encourage all of our overseas missions and donation recipients to do something that shows the people here at Lark Mission that we're spreading God's Word. Typically what is done is people, such as yourself and the children at the orphanage with you, will pose for a picture with a sign. The sign for your picture might say something like "God Bless Lark Mission", or "Hello Friends At Lark Mission". It's really up to the people doing the picture. But it must be something encouraging to those of us here at the home of Lark Mission as we sometimes need to see the fruits of our donations in order to motivate us to continue to give. Would that be something you could do with the children there? You don't know how great it would be to see such a thing!

Even before your church approved of the application it was approved in the spiritual reams what you see now is just a fulfilment of what has taken place in the spirit and it only manifesting in the physical. In respect to your mail sorry about my sister that is in so much pains and tell her that the kids in little angel orphanage home will remember her in their prayers and that nothing will happen to her God bless her.
What you asked me to do is very simple and we always do it to our good friends of the orphanage home, who gives us one donation or the other and again we snap picture carrying a play card saying sweet words of appreciations to our donors and we usually send the video clip of the donations that was made to the orphanage for their records purpose.
Be rest assured that you will get all of this. I shall wait to hear the document that you want from me OK!

Mrs. Macathy,

I am so sorry for not writing to you in some time. We have been dealing with some struggles here and I was involved in all of it. I won't get into details, but will say that it has been a very tough time. We (Lark Mission) lost an associate pastor in a car accident, one of our sister churches was destroyed by a fire, and we had a family from our congregation leave the church. Things are settling down now though, but I have to admit that I am still feeling a lot of sadness about everything.

On to better news. I have attached a form that the board of elders wishes for you to complete. You will see on the form that some documents and other information are requested as well. We do not have a time limit on when you must turn this stuff in, but we do encourage you to do so as soon as possible. But if you must delay you won't be penalized. We realize that you are busy with your work and that not all of what we are asking for may be readily available. So take your time and do what you can when you can. Email me back when you have everything in order.

I hope you're doing great! How are the little ones? We have been praying for all of you.

Over the past week we have been having another bout of terrible winter weather, and ***** was hurt in an automobile accident and was in the hospital until two days ago since which he has been resting at home. Worry not, however, as he will be making a full recovery in short time. He has a couple fractured ribs, a broken arm, and had a concussion. Even in his current state he wanted me to look after some of the current files he has been managing for the church. That is why I am contacting you right now.

Thank you for sending the information that you have in the past few days. I'll be printing them all out and taking them to the board of elders when the next meet, which I believe is scheduled for tonight after the praise team practices. I do need to call Pastor ***** on the phone to see if there is anything else you can do while you wait, but for the time being you'll simply have to wait for the next step to be determined by our board. I have some good news and some bad news for you this morning.

The good news is to tell you that the board of elders has approved your application for a donation from our church. In fact they were so impressed by the information you recently submitted to us that they have taken initiative to see if they can increase the amount of money that would be given to the orphanage! God is good! The process that they will have to go through is going to take several days. In basic terms, they must examine the current budget and active missions and donation expenditures to see if we will have a surplus of monies. If that is the case they will then discuss how much should be added to your current amount. As soon as there is news about that I, or *****, will be sure to let you know.

The bad news I have is not so much bad for you as it is for me. ***** has recovered to the point that he will be able to assist you again, probably within a day or two. However it also means that I am no longer going to be handling your case, and that saddens me as I would really like to continue assisting you. But ***** will be more than happy to keep me informed as to your progress.

A bit of an update. Still taking this one slow and easy. I turn things back over to the original contact that the scammer was dealing with. Also the scammer is informed that her orphanage has been awarded a larger donation than she applied for. But unfortunately it's only available in two installments due to budget reasons. Shucks! Also I think there's going to be some difficulty in actually getting the money to her.

This is *****. I'm still at home today while I take one final day of rest before getting back into church business full time again.

Thank you very much for your patience lately. I think it's pretty obvious that agents of evil do not want the ***** church to help your orphanage. But God will guide us and we will find success.

I am still trying to get the full detail, but I can tell you that one of the elders from the church had some positive words to share with me about your case. As ***** shared with you, ***** is going to be donating a larger sum to you than we originally thought. I will know the exact amount tomorrow, but I am told that it is in area of $45,000! God is so wonderful!

In anticipation of this donation, can you please send me information on what would be the best way for you to receive the money? Typically we send a check to the receiving organization, but I realize that not all areas of the world have the same banking facilities as we have here. So if we need to do something other than the check, that will be okay, but there will be some additional paperwork involved in order to make sure that everything goes smoothly.

Thank you again for bearing with the delays of late. I look forward to seeing how things continue to work out for you and the orphanage.

My lad attached a bunch of blueprints with the next email. I'd forgotten that I still needed them from her! It seems to me that that is a good sign that this lad is convinced that my side of this little shindig is real. Very Happy

After a bit of inspection it's pretty obvious that the boilerplate on them was changed to have the name of the orphanage shown. I'm sure there's some other problems that my character's friend (who happens to be a skilled architect!) will point out in order to drag this on some more.
