I saw the letter yesterday on the surplus forum. IP seems to be Australian, and we had yesterday some quick exchange on time that should be early morning on Australia. Quiet since then.

He is extremely funny.

This is what I had just yesterday:

Probably some bloke on the dole, finguring on trying to make some income on the side. See if you can get him nabbed by the police. Or better yet, see if you can get him on a webcam somewhere in Australia. Try to suss out where he is. Tell him you are planning a trip to Oz and could drop off some funds at a safe point if he has any "contacts" there. Or maybe give him an address in a particularly bad neighbourhood. I can help you out with some areas of Sydney if you like. Smile

Been to Australia just once myself, and my best memory from Sydney is buying a railway ticket to Canberra in the slowest ticket booth on Earth.

The IP's in Queensland, FWIW, though the phone number provided has the UK prefix - so he has call diversion then. Call him at a reasonable hour in London (ie 4 pm GMT) and you'll catch him at 2-3 am I think...

I could help if he's in Melbourne.

I'm quite sure it is a number of some kind of voice mail or answering machine.

I won't be using phone at the moment. I'm not set up for skype, I am actually a little bit afraid to use the regular phone (he might find out where I'm calling from - and it will cost me some money the international call), and I also pretend being a man...

But he didn't reply yet to my last email. Maybe he got scared because I said I'll get someone to make sure there are no agents after us. Maybe I'll open a new account and try again.

Out of interest, originating IP address for the last email received suggests the lad is elsewhere.

I gave your lad a quick call using Free Call Planet (712-338-8288) and got through to him (I asked for Sylvia; she wasn't there; wrong number). If you are baiting from the US it is only your long distance to Iowa and it gives a default caller ID from Hawaii (they use an Asterisk PBX and it is built-in). Test it yourself to a phone you can observe to make sure your caller ID is hidden, too. By the way, he didn't sound Australian; sounded like a W. African lad to me.
