I'm a total newbie to this. I admit I haven't read enough of the FAQs on this site, but I decided to get the ball rolling. I'm approaching this from the point of view that I pretend that this deal is legitimate and that I play along. I've created an anonymous hotmail and telephone voice mail accounts, so I don't mind giving that out to the scammers. Hopefully I can re-use my fake telephone number (it goes directly to voice mail, I might even record their messages and post them here) against other scammers (I hear there are 250,000 of them).
Anyway, I found this scammer through this link:
http://www.419eater.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=46598
I did post my email address to several guestbooks but no one wrote to me yet.
So here is our latest email exchange:
Thank you for your response, your promptness has given me a lot of assurance!
Question though, do you know how much money will be going through my account? I'm just curious because I think I might open a brand new bank account to get things going, although I can still use my company's regular account. Also, can you please call me in regards to this arrangement? If I'm not there, just quickly leave a voice mail and I'll call you back right away.
Also, you did not answer my question as to who designed your website. I'm trying to find contact information in case I need to call you.
I believe that business arrangements are important and they will be mutually beneficial for all involved. I have never done any business with an African company and I'm always interested in diversifying my clientele.
Thank you and best regards,
William (Bill) Tavington

> Dear William Tavington, First I must thank you for picking up the consideration to be our agent via our costumers who are already and able to pay some of our outstanding bills. Surprise to say that your role in this endeavour is to serve as our agent to get to our customers who has been indebted to us over a considerable lenght of time and help stand as an agent through which they will make such payments to us. But before we commence i will want you to understand this as you would beplaced on commission. And also this does not require your financial obligations.Your reward for helping us collect such an outstanding debt will be 10% of whatever money that is being paid to our Company through your Account. You will be given adequate coordinates and banking instructions through which you will remit our balance 90% from your Account to us. Our contraint has always been a method of payment by several of our foreign client who we supply our goods. We presently get our payment
>through checks and draft issued in our favour by our clients but the problem of delay is usually experienced as we are made to wait for up to one month before our local banks here clear the checks/draft.We are loosing a lot of money by doing this as most of our money is produced as short term loan and overdraft from the banks with high interest rate. I just want to let you know that your phone number/contact address will been forward to our clients/accounts department of the company for accreditations as the company foriegn payment recieving officer in your country. On my receipt of your reply I shall inform you on the next step to take to conclude with this business. Please reply A.S.A.P. Thanks,Mr Olusegun OlawoleCEO

Now, what is this talk of accreditation? Are they going to look up my fake telephone number? (Fake as in, it just goes to voice mail). I doubt that these guys are _that_ sophisticated. Anyways, any tips will be gladly appreciated.
One final question... if they want to mail me something, how do I go about creating a fake mailing address? I don't feel like spending any money at all on my scambaiting. Otherwise, I'll just avoid having them mail me stuff, and I'll use email as much as possible. |

I always insist that they email it to me but have on occasion given the local police depts address..(the one in the city I say I'm from).
They're not going to mail you anything...it costs money that they won't spend! |

It all depends on what your lads are mailing. Remember, cash baits are strictly keeeeeeeeep oooooooffffffff!
But I believe that premium members have access to a PO Box addy, but I haven't really investigated that modality. |

It seems that they will send you a fake check. Why not give them the address of the nearest USSS or FBI office? |

Hmmm, a PO box would certainly be the easiest way to go about it, but I'm not interested in spending money on this new-found hobby of mine. If one of the forum members here is willing to share his PO Box with me, that would make things a lot more fun. Otherwise, I'll just provide a fake mailing address, or better yet, the address of my local police station as suggested by somebody else.
Funny thing is though, I've provided a voice mail telephone number to two mugus already, and they haven't called! I can program my telephone voice mail to redirect a call to a real land line, and set the time of day to it as well! So I can set up my voice mail to forward live calls between 12:00 and 12:30 PM and tell these mugus that's the only time that I'm available to get called! That's an interesting modality that might make things frustrating for the mugus
The character that I'm playing is an ultra-leftist businessman expatriate from England who now lives in Canada. So from time to time he will throw in catch phrases like "I feel so guilty for being white", etc. I wonder if that type of talk will string them along even better?
So far, no one has asked me for money. I have this widow whose late husband was a cabinet minister for the President of Liberia, and now she is having her lawyer conclude the business arrangement with me. Funny thing is though, I am not nearly as articulate as Max N Paddy, and anyone could see that I don't talk like a business man at all. Are these mugus so desperate for marks that they will talk with people who appear suspect?
I'll only post updates here that are interesting. |

OK, this lad has a nice form for me to sign. He must want to know if I'm being serious or not. I used a cominbation of Microsoft Paint and SlowView to sign the document and sent back the document "scanned" (actually I just converted it to black and white and I simply resized it down a little to give it a little blurry effect). Notice the modality where I said that I tried to call him but some strange woman came on the phone and could not understand me.
I want these lads to call ME. Then when I have their voice mail I can have them call me during my available hours--monday to friday-- 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM EST. (I gave a voce mail tel# where I can program it to auto-forward to a land line--I don't feel like having these lads call outside these hours of operation)
Here's the last email

Hello Mr. Olusegun,
I tried to call you at your telephone number, but some strange woman answered and I could not understand her I'm afraid. I apologize for not getting a hold of you. In the meantime, I printed out the document and signed it. Since I can't reach you by fax or telephone, I thought I would scan the signed document and send it back to you.
Please call me at the telephone number that I provided for you so that we can discuss this new business arrangement.
Thank you and best regards,
William Tavington

no quibbling over the terms of the agreement and the definition of which consultant services will be rendered?
Perhaps a few changes, date and initial the changes, and get them to also date and initial changes and send the doc back to you with their date/initials? After all, business is business |

Yeah that does sound like a fun modality. He left a voice mail message in my "fake" account, now he wants a copy of my passport. I think I'll start to stall him there, asking why do I need to give out my passport? I think he should send me his passport as well. |
