The world's attentions have been focused on the pandemic of late, and with good reason. We are living in uncertain times. Sometimes though a good laugh will put things in perspective for us.

Over two years ago the "Nigerian Astronaut" scam re-surfaced here on Eater, and I eagerly joined in baiting. The lad was using an out of date format, meaning the astronaut was at that time in space for 14 years! My doctor character pledged to not just send the $155. but was organising a fund raising dinner to raise thousands. All the cousin of the astronaut had to do was send a short video with an emotional appeal and I could guarantee over $10,000 from my circle of rich friends. Needless to say, he never sent the video and I never sent the money.

This morning I found an "Update" from the lad over two years later and he really, really needs the money now as his cousin is still in orbit 16 yrs later!
Talk about self isolating!!!

This premise of this scam is priceless, and his urgent appeal made me laugh.

Those baits were a hoot...silly lads. One baiter turned the script around by saying she worked as a janitor on the ISS. Laddy just couldn't grasp why there were no WU outlets in space. Unfortunately the bait fizzled out because the lad refused to stick their head in a photocopier to make a nice mugshot. NASA needed it for "security purposes" Laughing
