I got an email from Barrister James Nelson who would like to send me a check for $850,000 which I am to deposit in my bank. He wanted all the usual personal information. My first response, which was today (8/3), was to bluff for time. I asked him if he was a Christian (It's all I could figure to say!) and he replied indeed he was not only a Christian but a Minister of a Pentecostal church to boot! He then asked if I was a Christian. I haven't responded yet, but of course I will be, and then praise him highly for his service. Then what???
Any direction is appreciated.

First of all: Welcome!

Second, I'm going to ask the basic question that you are bound to get, so let's just get this out of the way now:

ARE YOU BAITING SAFELY?? i.e. using a fake email address that is NOT your personal email address. That is Rule #1.

If you are not using a fake email address, you MUST drop this lad and start with a fake email account.

Also, have you signed up for the mentor program? They are SUPER helpful!

If you are baiting safely with a fake email address, just make $h!t up. Fake name, fake address (preferably one that doesn't exist), fake phone number, etc.

I have found that you can get a scammer to do ridiculous things if he thinks that he can scam a very rich church. Elder Thurston Howe of my church offers a gift of $10,000.00 USD to new members. Its not a financial inducement to join, just a gift that a rich elder has been giving out only to new members that have successfully completed all the requirements and public confessions of faith.

Start out slowly by introducing your church. I have sent out photos of the Smithsonian Institution. I then introduce an office manager that has access to my office computer that no longer allows me to communicate with anyone that is not a member of our church. I then introduce the Evangelism Elder that sends the membership forms. Once you get the form filled out and signed you can get your lad to do just about anything in a public confession of faith. I had one lady scammer complain that her "tatas" would show if she was wearing only a white robe with nothing underneath and someone poured 4 liters of water on her head. Turns out she was 5 months pregnant but did the ritual anyway.

Welcome to Eater! If you have a question about a bait, you can ask your mentor (who was also my mentor) or post in HH&T. You can post your character's name and other details in HH&T, because it's off limit to spiders (unlike Main), so lads won't find your character if they search.

It always strikes me as funny when lads claim to be both a pastor and a lawyer/banker/autc. A few years ago I baited Rev. Mike Donald Duck, who was also a banker. My character knows her Bible (as do I) and confuted the lad. Another approach is to belong to a completely different religion. Yastreb has a character who believes in Germanic gods (Ásatrú).
