Welcome to Eater. Over the years, we have had members baiting from all over the world, including the countries of South Africa, Malaysia, the Philippines, Nigeria, Kenya, Germany, the UK, Canada, and the USA. All are hotbeds of mugu action. If you follow the advice here and bait safely, you should be just fine.

You have an advantage baiting a local scammer because you know details of the area. As long as you bait safely it can be great fun. I baited a lad operating in Houston once - where I live. There is no danger if your bait character is nothing like you and no real life details are ever revealed.

welcome! I was living in South Africa for a while about 3 years ago and had a couple of mugus operating out of central Hillbrow. You should have some great fun. My guys from hillbrow loved going on a daytrip to Durban. Even arranged a meet in Ushaka however couldn't get a confirmation photo from them.

As bware419ers said, we have members from all over on this forum. We have a member here who lives in Nairobi who used to scammers on "scavenger hunts" for buried treasure, which usually ended up being things like bags of rocks if I recall. Of course the scammers are all over the world too. But if you live in a location where you know there are a lot of lads locally, you need to do what feels safe for you. If you want to scambait, but don't feel comfortable doing it so "close to home" you could always target scams that don't tend to be based out of where you live. For example, I live in New York City and there is a fair amount of lottery scamming gangs out of Jamaica that are violent and have contacts here. I don't tend to bait those guys and if I did, you can bet I'd be very careful.
