The demand for a payment slip is something most of us have encountered, whether for bank or WU/MG transfers; but Ed Jumiyalla of the World Bank has something else in mind as proof of payment:

The details we are expecting from you is the confirmation details below.
Bank name:
Bank account were the funds was transferred from.
Amount transferred.
Time of transfer.
Receiving bank account details.
Bank Account Number.
Bank Swift code.Iban No.
The above requested details must come with the bank confirmation order/ letter headed paper to enhance the confirmation.

Mal was, of course, baffled.

Kindly make it your duty to forward the requested details to enable us make the confirmation through the accredited account agent as soon as possible.
It must come through the bank letter headed paper.

These poor lads are so outdated with their knowledge of how banking elsewhere in the world works that it's actually hurting them. At least around these parts of the world no one actually goes to the bank any more as everything is done online. The banks are closing branch offices or are leaving behind service points manned by 1 or 2 employees that just take care of old people.

I had a long conversation about this with one lads (without educating them much), mostly in the lines of "I only do online banking and no, they're not going to give me a physical sheet of paper that has your magic numbers". Enough of that and the lad started to argue I was a joker.

I am in the middle of one now whom I have baited from two accounts over the last couple of years and I must have really impacted him (with all the CC and piggies I stole) because he is SO cautious now. I am playing this one differently. Where it is at now is that he has paid for my recording studio services via credit card (which I reported) but I didn't play games with him yet. I said it went through.

He demanded I go deposit the money for the "driver" into a Capital One account. Well, we don't have one around here. I waited for the piggie but this time he threw me a curve ball and said "Overnight a check"

So, I am wondering how (or if) I report the mule's address?? Mod suggestions??? Or just ignore that for now.

In any event I "visited" the post office and it was crazy expensive to overnight so I just sent a check regular mail which should be there soon. It became hilarious as he demanded a picture of the receipt. I said that I just put a stamp on an envelope and mailed it. There's no receipt. He then asked "send me a picture of the check". I said "This makes no sense. How would I send a picture of something that is in the mail? Something is off here. Please send me your drivers phone number so I can handle this payment with them directly"

He quickly backed off.

I also noticed that the address he sent for the "driver" doesn't exist so this poor lad made a major typo. I'll tell him it was returned and suggest a wire transfer. Piggie!

Long story short (and my point) is that lads do "grow" but their greed will eventually take over. I just have to alter my script and the way I write a bit. He fed me numerous cards and accounts in the past so treading lightly but he is hooked.

After I finish this one I will post the script and his details in the appropriate place and would love to hear how everyone makes out.

If he told you to overnight a check get the address to a moderator asap. Tell him you sent it or make up a reason you couldnt. If you can try for a # or email of the mule for "security." pass that to the same mod if you get it.

Sent the address and mule info to a mod.

Just an update. I told him that the address he sent wasn't correct so perhaps I should cancel the check and just wire the funds? As luck would have it he sent bank details for a very small bank where I know a lot of the people and I was able to kill the account myself. I did tell him I sent the wire.

He just found that out that his account is dead and he is texting and emailing. He is freaking out saying"there is an issue. and I need to talk to you etc etc. 19 texts in 5 minutes and 6 emails. Doesn't he know there is a huge storm in the area and my phone and email aren't working???

HAHA

If I feel like it I'll touch base tomorrow.
