Scammer wants to rent my grandparents' house to me

My grandparents' home was listed for sale recently, after my grandma's passing. A scammer took the photos and listed it on Craigslist as a house to rent. He's obviously never even seen the house, as he knows nothing about the property (I'm making up questions about the fence, tree in the yard, etc., and he's just responding with make-up nonsense).

I've engaged him in a few back & forth email exchanges, and he's pressuring me to send him a down payment for the rent. Obviously, I haven't given him anything.

I'd really like someone to take this one for me and run with it. I don't have time to bait, and quite honestly this one bothers me a little. This creep is using my deceased grandma's name (calling her a Reverend) and claiming that she's out of the country on a missionary job. It really irks me to see the photos from the real estate listing on his rental ad, and the idea that someone may fall for it and send him some cash.

I haven't been lurking here lately, but please PM me if you'd like the info and want to take this one on for a grateful fellow.

Post the emails from the scammer on Scamwarners. I think the info to show and the info to redact are these: post the scammer's name and email address, post the house address, don't post your or your grandma's name, don't post your email address, post the lad's answers about the house, say that you know they're wrong, but don't say how you know they're wrong or what the correct answers are. A warner may come along with more accurate advice. For those who'd like to bait this, you can put a link to SW here.

A special kind of leetch, these lads. A few years back we had a military couple get sucked in and even have the locks replaces per his instructions. Somehow they got to the point where they were actually moving furniture in when the real estate agent showed up with a WTF? They'd even introduced themselves to the neighbors.

Please abuse to the max of your abilities.

How come I missed that? Now it's too late, but maybe I will email him from another character's address. He does not seem to be able to provide another account. We had a little debate and he was about to cancel my contract. I have sent myself a fake mail and changed the payment information. It seems he did not really understand what has happened.

^^^ Some lads develop a certain paranoia when a fake mail chop occurs and believe they have been hacked. Not this one. He didn't fall for the nice fake receipts I have sent him. He has sent this:

I'm sure this guy has other fake listings just like this, all over the U.S.
He seems to pull off info from a house that is listed for sale & then list it to rent on Craigslist (without putting the address in). It's not the most sophisticated scam, but it's obviously worked to some degree in the past or he wouldn't be continuing it.
