Since I have begun baiting again, I've noticed that I'm seeing ads for medication and other treatment for ailments that my baiting characters have. I find this to be both a bit troubling (due to the complete lack of privacy you have on the Internet when it comes to this sort of thing) and quite hilarious at the same time.

Have you guys noticed this?

I haven't seen that in particular but I've gotten emails from Amazon with "suggested" items based on my reading a posting in a forum just minutes before. I was reading a discussion about a specific woodworking tool and Amazon was ready to sell me one almost immediately.

Kind of aggravating but I did actually need it...!

^ Same reason why Google doesn't freak me out either. But now I'm actually curious to see what kinds of ads Roger would see. Probably just dick pills, religious shit, and cheap web hosting.

^^^ I'll see your Adblock Plus and raise you Disconnect and uBlock Origin. They're great, I can't remember the last time I saw an ad.

I stopped using Adblock Plus after they started their 'acceptable ads' bs a year or so ago.

I once thanked a lad profusely for his email because I just happened to be in financial stress and the millions he was offering was a godsend. The next day I was reading ads from bankruptcy attorneys. Laughing

I usually browse sites like Amazon, Egghead, etc. in private/incognito mode. That minimizes the likelihood I will see ads that relate to my browsing.

For a few years now it seems that I have been given the persona of someone who owns a Porsche & have two busty Russian girlfriends in tow. Just glad my RL situation is better than that so just ignore those tiresome ads as bumpf & carry on baiting.

I started with Adblock and migrated to uBlock (LInux). Every once and awhile I surf with it off and can't believe what became of the web.

Without the ads sites like scamwarners wouldn't exist or would be run by profit making companies looking to push visitors towards some sort of product.

I dont mind a few discreet adds that can be easily dismissed, but far too many sites are completely over the top and are actually unviewable without an addblocker of some kind

Here is actually quite good, but many of the less sane sites I visit (places like GLP and its ilk) are actually quite unwatchable, as soon as one add is closed, two more pop up to replace it, and as for bloomin adds that have audio at 300% volume- I actually browse with my speakers turned fully down and only turn them up when I actually want to watch something as even with addblockers some still slip through and its embarrassing at 1AM for some add to have some female panting heavily and screaming her head off as an add for something I'll never want blares out

(Not to mention I usually browse on a 3g dongle, and when data costs $10 a gigabyte, video adds can eat half of that up in a single night- thats probably the most offensive thing I find)
