I can't remember how I found Eater or why I was looking for something like it in the first place. Why do I stick around? Because the baits are hilarious and you all deserve the support for doing some amazing work!

I first joined in 2005 as a response to the London bombings and the scams that they produced – it was my home town and seemed more “personal”. Gave a few of them the run-around, and one guy in particular will still be growling whenever he remembers me (and I’m sure he still does).

When that bait went tits up some six months later in Accra, we both came to realise the bait was over – we just “knew” what was going on. I had an email conversation with him after that, and one of the things I asked him, was “what would have happened if we had met in that hotel room”

He was quite open about his reply, and had always come across as above average intelligence for a “lad” – He told me that I would have been robbed in the hotel room, and if I had resisted, then violence would have been used. Simple as that – he went on to explain that this was normal where he came from, and that I shouldn’t judge him by “Western standards”.

We left it at that, and real life kept me from this site for over a decade. During that time, I wrote a review on “Frankie Frasers” auto-biography, and one passage in particular struck me.

It was when he robbed a man in the street, carrying the takings to the bank. Frankie explained his actions thus – “If he had just given up the bag then I wouldn’t have had to cosh him over the head” (putting the man in hospital).

It reminded me that a violent crime is a violent crime, no matter where it takes place, or your background. Some scams come down to personal meetings, others do not – some “give up the cash” before it gets to that stage – but these people are thieves, and violence is always in their tool kit.

I retired recently, and remembered this site, so came back to see how “baiting” had evolved over the years. Reading some of the surplus letters, I realised the game hadn’t changed much, but the baiting tactics had. With time on my hands, I started baiting again, not “just for laughs”, but to fuck these guys over as much as I can. I have a devious mind, some would say “perverted”, but then I was always a “complicated person”. Either I find an outlet for that, or I deny who (and what) I am – a screaming maniac with a sense of justice.

I love the way you can get inside their heads, the way you can manipulate them through their greed, the way you can play them like puppets, watching them trying to reach for that carrot that’s always just out of reach.

A sadistic approach ? – maybe – but as I said, I’m a “complicated” person – besides, I like to play with my food …..

On my return to the site, I found my log-in details intact, and browsing through the previous pm’s dating back over 15 years, I remembered all the fellow baiters that had been in on some this stuff, the joint baits. I remembered that this is where I belong, amongst fellow tormentors, people who I understand, and who understand me.

It was like coming “home” …………

I happened to see a link to one of Shiver Metimber's baits, many years ago, and I can't remember where, but something made me click it. Having never heard of scambaiting before, I found it fascinating and spent a few solid days just reading all the baits. My mind was blown, and my body ached from laughter. I've always loved pranks, and this was a new level (with added ethical bonuses!).

At the time I didn't consider doing it myself, and forgot about it after a while. Then, something, and again I can't remember what, jogged my memory and I went back and re-read some of the old baits. Inspired, I thought I'd have a go. My first few were not very successful, as you can imagine, and I left it alone again. Then, last year, I returned once again with a determination - I was gonna get some trophies and that was that.

I had to step away for it again because of work, but I always intended to come back when I could, because the people here are really nice & friendly, and there's a hell of a lot of good reading to be had.

About a decade ago k came across YeaWhatever's Road to skeleton coast..
I was blown away by the mindset and humor of baiting...i spent a lot of time Reading stories here back then, just because its so damn entertaining...2 weeks ago i had a back injury and was ordered to lay down for 5 days straight...so after almost 10 years i came back...with all the time in the World to read and learn from the Best. My goal is to create a baiting Universe of my own...with my own characters. But not until ive read a lot more .. And signed up for a mentor. The Universe though...is taking form....and i'm kinda writing a prestory for myself introducing the stories of my characters. Its a fun exercise to get going!
