Hi guys,

I just joined this amazing site after spending a few days with with a back injury, Reading 2 of the posts in greatest hits. Thank you Monsigneur and Mr. labowski for making me forget all about back pain, and laugh my heart out. Absolutely pure genious, from you and your helpers.
Some where along the way, Monsigneur stated that anyone could do this...i beg to differ. Being a teacher in litterature myself (in Copenhagen, Denmark) i would never Come even Close to the brilliance of you guys mindset and story telling. I am i awe!

I do have 2 questions though.

1) could someone explain all the icons at the bottom of your posts? I get the piggy bank and a few other. But Can you take me through them all?
2) when you do the scambaits, are you aware How Funny it is to read?? I dont think i have ever laughed loud by reading... But thats all i've been doing.

Hi BudWheiser, and welcome!

I have to tell you that some of the icons are mod jokes. However...

The national flags denote killed websites.

The badge

signifies an arrest. That is a very hard one to get.

The good old pith helmet Safari

is for a safari; and there's a golden pith

for exceptionally heroic safaris

The pyramids pyramid

and

relates to a specific type of church bait. Look up pyramids for some great stories!

The video camera Vcamera

is for getting a Lad to record a video. We've seen rock videos, hip-hop, legal testimony, and stunt man auditions.

The sandtimer Sand Timer

is for keeping a Lad continuously engaged for over a year.

The tattoo Tattoo

is for getting a Lad to get himself tattooed.

I'll leave the other icons for other members to explain.

As to how funny baits can be - it's usually only when it's all over when the comic value sinks in.

One of the biggest mistakes newbies make is jumping on here thinking they'll just pop some lad out for an extended safari and have a good laugh. The real answer is NO, it is NOT that easy. It takes a lot of time, nuance and experience!!

OF COURSE YOU CAN DO IT, Bud! It is not hard to begin. Set up an email account (Gmail is good – they hide your location) with fake info. Create your character (the fun part). Go to the SURPLUS 419 SCAM LETTERS and pick your lad. Use the Reply To address and send a simple email, like “Please tell me more – I’m very interested”.

Then it’s just a matter of asking one question a day, one email a day. If things go wrong or get sticky you dump that lad and pick another. Every minute of these criminals’ time you waste is beneficial.

Best of all, you can sign up for a mentor here to personally help you. There are also lots of stickies that explain how to bait.

I guarantee you that every star baiter started out simply. You learn as you go, and it is a ton of fun.

To clarify my input, it's hard to get a lad to safari, it's NOT hard to bait. You just want to read up here and learn how to do so safely AND have fun while doing so!!

Anyone can do this. Before I started I thoroughly read all the stickies on this site and many baits to get an idea of how to start. Then I just started. For me it started very slow, I got very few responses but eventually a few bit.

A perverse sense of humor definitely helps, but it certainly not required. Some baiters specialize in shutting down fake websites and fake credit cards which doesn't get the laughs but is very important in itself.

You just have to find your niche and for that, just try it. Figure out what you enjoy and what you are good at.

BudWheiser, if I can bait, you can bait. I'm incredibly tentative and lacking at self confidence at times, but I still manage to make lads miserable. (Like by waking them up in the middle of the night or very early on a Sunday morning, though phone credit costs money, so use it sparingly).

The advice I'll give to you - and to any new baiter - is not to have delusions of grandeur. Don't think that you'll read The Road to Chad/Darfur and some of Shiver's sillier baits (like getting a lad to put a fish and loaf of bread on their head), and instantly be able to, in your first bait, and on the second email, get the lad to do those things. Not only is it incredibly time consuming and difficult to do things like that (as SO MANY things can go wrong, especially in 2017 when lads can easily just Google anything and everything), but it also requires the right lad. Most lads are lazy and won't want to do anything beyond sending out scripts and getting payment by Western Union.

You'll hear people talk about the investment effect. Just as lads depend on their victims thinking "I have paid so much and come so far that I can't back out now. I'll just send this one last payment", so, too, does that apply to baiters and lads. Once a lad has put a lot of time into getting payment from what he thinks is a maga (fool), they are far more likely to respond favorably to some of your more difficult requests.

And, I know everyone says this, but that's because they know it is sound advice: GET. A. MENTOR. You'll want one on one instruction. You'll screw things up (we all do), you'll find yourself in a tough spot and won't know what to do...so you can ask your mentor to walk you through everything and teach you the basics (and more than the basics).

Most of all, have a bit of fun with it, and never forget the overarching goal: forcing a lad to tie up resources with baiters, thus making it more difficult for them to scam actual victims.
