just as a suggestion
in german, it's actually not uncommon that the last name is another first name, or a job (similar to english "miller"), or a location, color, etc.
this way, you can easily avoid that your lad googles your name and spoils the bait.
on the other hand, in the german area (germany, austria, switzerland), there was a habit of transforming foreign namens into something more easily writable. leading to all sorts of slavic, hungarian, italian and french names with german pronounciation. these names are a bad idea to take, since they (for austria) often are just found in one tiny village and in vienna... nowhere else.
similar mechanismns might have been present in other parts of the world too. |

^I've run into names like that. For example, in California, there's a poppy called Eschscholzia, which was named for J. F. von Eschscholtz (the 't' was dropped when the genus was named). AFAICFO this name was originally Eschholz (Ashwood), then transliterated into Russian as Эшшольц (there is no /h/ in Russian, except as an allophone of /g/), then transliterated back into German. Another one is Kac, which is Katz spelled in Hungarian or Polish. |

^^ read up on the history of names in the US sstate of Louisiana for more on names being adapted to culture. And it wasnt just recent immigrants. As different cultures became dominant it was common for families to change their name not just in spelling but totally to a new word meaning the same thing in the new language. But not all family members changed. Thus in one family you may have White, Blanca, Blanc, LeBlance, Weib, Weir, andd various spellings of each. |
