When I first became involved with 419eater I put my heart and soul into baiting for a period of time, however, there seemed to be a lot more going on a few years ago. There were many tools that people made to assit in the way baiting went. Plus there was always people around to help everyone.

I remember Duezer, he had a great online money transfer site that was very popular and used often. I was the customer service agent at the end of the helpline when scammers emailed customer support.

I get the feeling now that this baiting scene is not as popular as it was as nothing updates over time. I find that when you post in sections on the forum people are not as forth coming anymore with replies. Take my post in the help section 29 views only and not 1 reply. Does that mean the 29 people who have viewed it sont know the answer? Or does that mean 29 people cant be bothered replying? Even if people cant be bothered replying thats ok, I have no issue with that what so ever but sure someone knows the answer? Not even an admin or mod?

Im not complaining here so please dont start replying with 'well if you aint happy........... thats not the reason ive worite this post.

I just get the feeling that baiting is becoming a thing of the past, it certainly feels different these days.

I know guests can't view Help section, but regardless - many users here are hidden, many users here are simply just lurkers. They love to read, they love to catch up with their favorite baits and they never (or very rarely) post. There are dozens of accounts that show up from time to time, they've been around from well before 2010's, they have 4 posts. With this in mind, 29 views is really a little.

I, for one, have missed your post - that's why I didn't reply to it. But whenever I do see a thread in HH&T, I try to reply, try to be forthcoming. And there are dozens of other members that are exactly like me in this regard. B8er, vonpaso, and namely - moderators. Which brings me to another point

Most, close to 99% of the content here is user-generated, user-developed. You've mentioned Deuzer. He was nor admin, nor mod. And mods and admins didn't develop his tools. Just a tiny note: when asking about a tool, it's always good to link it for example. "Hey, this tool - named Best Tool on Eater - no longer works. Anyone got contact to CreatorOfBestTool or is it simply gone?" you were a little vague about it. You've found it, but given no context.

Ah yes, the "Good old scambaiting days are gone, what will we do." I have to disagree. We still pop-out some great tools (Frost comes to mind), and even without tools any baiter can be effective. It might be changing, evolving, lads are handier with smartphones, switch to facebook, but we still deliver great results. We still report a whole bunch of bank accounts and fake CC's every year, we still succeed at informing lots of victims who visit scamwarners, we still kill a ton of fake websites, and yes - we even still have great and hilarious baits, trophies, calls, safari's and what-not. And some of the best baits I've read here were done using no tools at all. Simple communicating and persuading the lad.

And one last thing about the community, I'd like to add for everyone, not directed just at you personally playtime - if you want helping, forthcoming community - engage in it! It will be exactly the way we make it. This is, again, not something mods or admins can fix.

That's kind of the crux of it, right? People, like Pete's buttons, come and go, or they put less time into it. They don't update or renew sites with tools. Sometimes, tools become outdated. When you first joined, Moneygram transfers could not be checked online. At one point, only "jokers" used Gmail. Things change and evolve.

It is different. Do you realize how many more people have access to internet now? Or access to it in their hand, let alone the need to go to a cafe? Like the transition from mail to fax to email, it has evolved to social media and apps. Why would it not feel different?

Bware is right, things change. In the past, the only thing that we could really achieve was wasting the lads time by filling in forms or wasted trips to the WU/MG office (and the odd safari, tattoo, video or silly photo).

Now, I can make far more of an impact on a lad's finances and confidence by costing him is bank accounts, mules, websites and victims. By ignoring WU payment delays and going straight for accounts, reporting his websites and posting his details on anti-scam sites.

There is only so far one can go. you need tools to reuse in baits. Its all well and good delaying one western union payment because the store is closed, or the dog ate the slip, but you run out of options at some point and the lad drops you. I have just had one really good bait going and wasted a weeks time and got 3 bank accounts from the lad.

But You cant just go back to the WU office and say dog ate the slip again or its closed again. Lads have google maps and instruct you to various outlets.

If I had web making experience I would make tools for people to use, but I dont. Surely there are people on here who have experience in this sector. We are all here doing a job, or bit of a hobby so to speak so it makes sense that people make the baiters life a little easier. Sure its a game but ultimately we are trying to drive these buggers away.

Only if I was web making savvy I would be doing this stuff myself.

Not necessarily. Many baiters just rely on their skill.

Shorty, Turd, Ralph (and others that I can't remember) were once successful scammers, but are now totally broken having been safaried, tattooed and destroyed mentally purely by the skills of the baiters concerned. Or some of Big X's baits where he never even manages to send the money, but still has the lad on the hook for months on end.

I hear what you are saying but times are moving forward. Were have finished with Sega Master Systems and onto PS4's now. Scammers are getting more experienced and have the world wide web at their disposal now. I remember when I first started you got 1 or 2 emails a day from a scammer, thats when they queued up to cyber cafes but now with smart phones things have moved on a whole lot more. You cant deny that.

Deny it? Nope. I preach it. It's also why I rarely ever bait via email any longer. Lads are on social media so things move quicker. It's why I never ever bother with WU or MG. I need to make an impact now. So I go for the bank account straight away and send de-education along with it. Then I don't go for one or two accounts.

Once upon a time, a baiter named Justcold said something like "Go for 100 accounts." And I said, "Ha! Right." But you really don't know unless you ask. I know B8er has gathered something like 20+ from a lad (probably more). Justcold went and collected, at least...it's probably higher, 319 accounts from one lad.

Not one tool was used for this. Ever read a Church bait? No tools. It's the baiter's imagination and willingness to be able to adapt to new ideas and situations that make them successful.

Which is precisely why wasting an hour of their time answering questions in an attempt to get their MTCN no longer has the impact that it used to and why many baiters won't spend their time developing tools that they see as providing little benefit. They're not burning up credit in the cyber, they could do it while they're having a crap or travelling to the shops on the bus.

We have evolved too. I admit (once again): I rarely bait a lad actively anymore. Every once in a while maybe. Or I may grab an opportunity to participate in a CC massbait or maybe shoot for a bank account.

I have found other ways to contribute. Let's leave it at that: the old timers here know what I'm talking about.

And that's how I think it should be. Think outside of the box. The past won't come back. It's impossible. I was here in 2006 and I can tell you, from my point of view your 2011 doesn't seem that far away compared to how long I have been around. And I'm not here wishing for the 2006 to come back. I didn't do it in 2011 either. It's 2017 now. Welcome to the new reality: they evolve and we evolve. You evolve or you don't, it's a matter of choice I guess, but I think there is only one right choice for that problem.

I was never a tools user, I prefer direct attack via email. Over the past five years I've been amazed that the lads I've pounded haven't really evolved at all, at least the ones that are still sending scripts to email addresses. Sure, some are on their phones instead of burning cash in a cafe, but the behavior and baitability hasn't waned a lick. I only string on one or two at a time but once I have them hooked the game stays the same.

Kill bank accounts, take mules off line, warn victims and waste hours and hours of their time (with a safari thrown in every now and then) has been the process for my "career" and I haven't seen anything tail off.

Also, the support of the participants in here has only increased and enhanced my skills (and increased the entertainment value for me).

I never used tools either, only forms but those are goofs for trophies, not my core baiting. Wink

here is another big problem. when I started baiting, few lads had mobile internet. they had to go to a cyber cafe, which costs them big time money. 1$/h wasn't uncommon.

so with clever questions, you could make the lad to read and write something for 10 minutes. and they did not have the time to actually search the internet in order to find out if they were baited or not (baits were in plain sight on this website).

now, they have mobile phones and they pretty much reply whenever they have time. forms still hurt a bit, since they need to be printed and scanned.

but, it hurts them if they lose a bank account, or even a mule. and so baiting shifted a bit towards the things that hurt.

I totally agree. The lads have changed. In 2010 It was easy to run up a lads burner phone bill or force them to go to an internet cafe. Make them go to WU to check the transfer. I had lads running all over the place. They now all have smartphones and respond within 30 seconds. I highly recommend the one email a day MAX no matter how tempted you are to respond. It's my entertainment. I had a lad send me 31 emails yesterday asking for updates. His head was exploding so after 30 emails received, I created an Auto-response that said "Due to the blizzard I am unable to respond to emails until Friday" I'll make him wait a few more days. That's entertainment.

I do find it easier to get cards and accounts these days. I may not be able to waste as much of their time as I used to but I'm reporting a bunch of stolen and Mule accounts. I'm focusing on taking away their resources. Fun fun.

Finally, I do have a bunch of old school tools. Blurry WU receipts, faded wire transfer statements etc. If you need anything DM me.

Tools are only as effective as the person wielding it. The best tool is the one between your ears. All the best baits start off with straight baiting, and then continue with straight baiting.
