For me, the only time it's random is when the lad gives me more than one card and I want to do different things with them (say one went through and another was canceled or over the limit). Then I pick one at random. We report all the cards as stolen regardless of what we tell the lad.

But I assume you do not use any merchant or swipe system to verify them right? I know it's a silly question but just learning Laughing

No question here is too silly!

No, there is no actually check on the cards. All that matters is getting them reported as quickly as possible so they can be shut down before they are actually abused. The key is to use the different possible results you might get as a merchant if you did scan them to get the scammer to think you are a real business who IS running actually running them through.

It's all a big game...with the scammer losing!!

First was rejected, do not honour. $500 was charged from the 2nd one then received over limit error.
