I just got my gmail account suspended for sending "spam

I tried asem-ing a bunch of lads and the emails kept getting stopped for being spam-like. Now it says I can't send more mail for 24 hours. How do I send the same message to a bunch of lads and not have this happen to me again?

That can happen when you get too many rejects from undeliverable addresses. In the future, try to space out your emails a bit and also do your best to scrub off the bad addresses. Meanwhile, just wait the 24 hours.

as far as I know, gmail does not allow more than 500 mails per day.

usually, that is perfectly fine for personal mail usage.

try staying below 500 mails per day, that's all.

Be very careful where you are getting the addresses from. I don't know if you are using the Transit or or where you are sourcing from. Bad addresses are a spam problem, but if you get an ITP, you shouldn't be using that list.

Google also appears to be stricter on new accounts than on existing ones. I regularly use an account to ASEM 400 or so mails in one go and never had any problems. Tried the same with a new account and got the same message.

Capone is right though - be careful where you get your email addresses from. There are some lists that are not to be trusted.

I only sent about 40 ASEMs they got rejected after the first batch of ten or so. Probably due to a lot of the addresses being invalid. I got the addresses from my own inbox, surplus and a website called scammed.by. Is it reliable?

^^^ definitely a site to avoid. There have been numerous complaints about baiter and ITP email addressed being included in their lists. 9 times out of 10 when someone here complains about receiving an ASEM that site is involved.

the simple thing that they are doing:

they harvest every mail address they get into their inbox. sender address, receiver address, reply-to addresses and addresses in the mail-body.

sometimes, lads send their scripts as CC instead of BCC, and suddenly, they get hundreds of ITP or baiter-addresses into that pool. since they don't check their system to avoid those bad mail addresses, their lists are effectively polluted.

the only way to get around this: harvest the addresses by hand. yes, it's a tedious job, you could use gmails canned responses. click on the mail address, send a standard response, rinse and repeat.

^^^ It is worse than that. They allow anyone to submit an email and then automatically post it on the website without checking it.

I was wondering why some responses were not ladlike. My mistake. I guess I deserved my temporary suspension after all... Sad

@Garnsorge: you learned something, that's always a good thing. and that temporary suspension should be over by now... (or within the next few hours).

I had the pleasure to examine data from scammed.by in my thesis work. 40% of all the data was regular spam mails or ITPs, not scam mails. The site owner knows this because I told him, but has not taken any steps to rectify - I can only assume that he doesn't care. Thus, Scammed.by is to be avoided.

My account is live but some emails still got blocked when I tried sending replies. I'm going to slow down activity on that account and if it still has problems I'll just take a leaf from the lad's book and open a new one.

I guess it was a good thing my account got shut down or I wouldn't of learned to avoid scammed.by
