My investigation into this matter has now ended. I have liaised with the security man at the Hotel and finally got to the bottom of what happened. Here is a breakdown.

1. Mr Randy and Mrs Brenda have been working hand in hand. All dead letters received there have been opened by them. Where cash is found, they have been stealing it.

2. When they know the receiver of a dead letter is coming to the hotel, they cover up the hotel sign with a blanket.

3. They tell the receiver that they will come out to find him but never leave the hotel.

4. The receiver eventually gives up and goes home.

5. Randy and Brenda claim that they have destroyed the uncollected letter and they then share the money.

Yesterday evening, I spoke with Randy and Brenda and dismissed both of them. I have sent my Deputy over to manage the hotel in the interim period until new managers are recruited.

This leaves me with the matter of Mr Onye. This morning, I spoke on the phone with my lawyer. He has advised that he prepares a contract for Mr Onye to sign, agreeing that he will not commence legal action against my Hotels for damages in respect of this matter. Once Mr Onye has signed the contract, we will give him a single payment of $2000.00 USD in cash. This will represent a full and final settlement of the matter.

I await Mr Onye's agreement to this proposal.

My Hotel company will make a good will payment to you of $2000 USD in cash. You will have to sign a 'gagging order', which is a contract agreeing not to publicise this matter or to sue my company in the future.

The contract will be signed and witnessed here in my Abuja Hotel, which is where I live with my wife. You will be dealing directly with me and not with any staff member.

No monies will be sent in advance. The $200 USD that was stolen will form part of the $2000 USD.

Next week, I can be free any day except Wednesday. I will leave this with you.
