Hello All,
first off. Thanks! for compiling a forum where we can learn from. Stumbled across forum while trying to find how to supply my scammer with a money transfer number to see how much further it will go. with that in mind, not sure if this is the right place to ask, but a bit about my first Real outting.
I've often responded to various emails, but dropped them after first response. however, last month, received a russian love scam and the pics fit my 'perfect' woman. so thought i'd stretch it out awhile to see where it headed. I've always had a fairly bogus email, no real personal info attached, for use with registering at websites and such, so was never really concerned with email giving me away. when she asked my name, i did give my real nickname, but just the first name and nothing else. Was casual first week, but i tried to amp up the conversation. but she always kept everything kindof moral, stock photos, casual conversation, whereas I was always trying to spice up the conversation like some pulp fiction novel. flash forward couple weeks later, she is now in moscow filing the paperwork for her visa, but low and behold unfortunately does not have the cash for the plane. I mean three weeks into an email relationship with someone you really know nothing about, and she's ready to fly here to be married, referring to me now as husband. thought I could at least get some spicy email out of her, or maybe a nude or two. even dug up some anonymous d pics to attach thinking it might start something, but since supplying her with a bogus western union number, she is now asking for full name and address for pickup. so if you've made it this far through my novel, i'd love to ask a question. is it advisable to continue the charade (i can give a bogus name with a play on my nickname) and had intentions of using the address of my local central booking station at the jail, or is it best to just end it when they get to this point. Also, do I include stuff like her picture(s) with different names I found when searching out the scam when ending it, or just blacklist the email? Tried browsing more through forum, but it's too much information to absorb this quick for this old brain. So was hoping for some quick pointers for now. Will browse and learn more to be better prepared next time Smile

We never involve ITPs in baits and that includes using the addresses of police stations, jails, etc. If you need to provide an address then make one up. Rather than just dropping her, you could see if you can get a bank account out of her because the Western Union transfer didn't work. The account can then be reported to a moderator.

When it comes to ending the bait, we never "burn" the scammer by telling them that we knew all along it was a scam and were just waiting their time as this helps them improve their scamming. We also do nto report free email addresses to the mail providers as the address could well be listed on scam warning sites such as our sister site scamwarners.com and if it is closed then the warnings there are rendered useless. Either just drop the scammer and disappear, or carry on baiting until they drop you.

Thank you B8ter. Had a feeling I stumbled onto something at this forum. One day in and I've learned much already. I can start to see how this can be addictive. Had intentions of sending a return email out later today. they've pretty much been going back and forth one per day. I will definitely adjust my reply applying your recommendations. ie truly bogus address and such and if it goes far enough will go with the western union issues and see where that leads. Was kindof looking forward to the burn at the end, but Thanks again for the heads up, had never considered I could be helping them inadvertently by doing so. Still pretty green at this, just stumbles into this as a lark at first, but learning already and sure I have much more to learn. will definitely spend the time to read all the stickies before I tackle this again. If anything comes from it, will be sure to post back.

Drop her. Then create a new character, with no resemblance to your real name, nickname, or anything else, put that character at a nonexistent address at least 100 km from where you are, and create a new email address for your character. Then write to the lad as if she had written to your character.

You can also create a catcher address. Don't bait from catcher addresses. Only post in Surplus and Scamwarners what comes to your catcher, or respond from your baiting address.

There are plenty of scam scripts posted in Surplus and even more at Scamwarners. You can find lads to bait there.
