For those members, especially newbies, who are not concerned about the potential threat resulting from giving out "real" personal information to a scammer, consider this:

The FBI and Travis County Texas authorities are now focusing on Chimene Hamilton Onyeri as a suspect in the attempted assassination of Judge Julie Kocurek. Onyeri is also being charged in an unrelated murder in Houston.

Onyeri was arrested in 2012 for involvement in Nigerian scams:

An affidavit from Onyeri's 2012 arrest in the Travis County case shows Austin-area police charged Onyeri with fraudulent use of identifying information after police found 17 gift cards encoded with stolen bank account information during a traffic stop.

"I traveled to Houston as part of the investigation and I did find there was a large group of individuals that was involved in this theft ring,” Detective Joel Martin told FOX7. “The numbers are in the high hundreds of people that are involved in this ring. Unfortunately I was only able to identify 27 of them.”

Onyeri pleaded guilty in the case and was sentenced to three years probation, according to FOX7.

In August, however, Kocurek began considering a motion from Travis County prosecutors seeking to have Onyeri's probation revoked after authorities in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana charged him with unauthorized use of a debit card. A hearing was initially set for early November for that process, but the date was then moved to Dec. 11.

My point is that there are people in this country involved in 419 scams, who are capable of violence. Be careful not to disclose anything to a scammer that leads back to you (or to any other person).

it also points out why the ITP-rule is so important.

imagine a bunch of lads showing up at some random guys home, just because a baiter used that address with a fake name.

yet, dreaming up real non-existing addresses is quite easy. for usa and canada: they have numbered streets. 40th street, and the town has only numbers till 30th, and the lad doesn't know where it is. in europe, streets are usually named, mostly after dead persons of local or nationwide importance, or after other cities (very creative). and there are streets with just even or uneven numbers (for example streets next to rivers). streetname with a even house number, and yet the city has only uneven numbers, and laddy is pissed.

and there is always that nice town named pripyat, dream up any address there, or live in the beautiful 5 star hotel polissya. besides some mutated rats, no ITPs present...

What a good reminder, Bruin, and how great you shared that.

It is easy to get caught up in the "fun" of trophies and safari's and tattoos, but we need to remember these people are not nice. Hector, who I have baited for years, just sentenced three (non-existent) people to a brutal death. It is nice they are not real, but he believes they are.

Bait safely, boys and girls.

That's quite a sentencing. I'd say he was bluffing, but at this point, I would expect anything from these people.

I would never even dream of using a stranger's private street address in a bait. Shocked

However, I do sometimes (although rarely) use the addresses of major local Police Stations or other law enforcement agencies such as the FBI (local offices etc.), depending on the "character" I use (which is never a police officer or FBI agent of course).

I just use it as a fake private address. And so far very very few lads were wise enough to google that address (less than 0.001% I'd guess).

Is that acceptable or should I better go with only non-existing addresses? Question

Thanks for sharing bruin, it does show how extremely important it is to bait safe and not involve itp's, just because someone is sitting in an Internet cafe in west Africa, doesn't mean he might not have associates in your country happy to take a Sunday drive to your front doorstep to seek revenge, especially if they have been inked or hashed in a wartorn country, they would be pissed enough to go to that extreme

No, this is not a bluff. Hector believes he is killing three people. He believes they will be tortured. In his own words:

This is real to him. He would kill you if he thought he could make money doing it. That is why we bait safe.

Thanks for putting that out there, Bruin. Your post is a good place to divert any lad huggers who wander in. We need to remember that we are dealing with criminals.

Dingleberry- You can bait using any address from my town if you want: It is called Upper Mendac1ty, and it is located in Dorsetshire (just east of York), or else in West Ohio in the USA, or in California (just outside of Albuquerque), depending on my mood.

^^^ Using a famous address like that will twig your lad when he Googles it. Tat's fine if you want to piss him off; however, if you'd like to keep him going even when he is at the point he would gladly send a hitman to you, a fake address that simply doesn't show up on a search is better. The lad will wonder why he gets no hits, but Google is not omniscient.

Personally, I like my characters to live in a small village called . is a fine place to live.

Note that there is a direct flight from Lagos to Houston for under $1000 US. The flight takes less time than most of the safaris our lads are so fond of. Don't be paranoid, but don't take needless risks, either.

then I would like to suggest the nice island of hokkaido.

not a single WU on the whole island (which is rather large).

additionally, for addresses, sapporo has a weird system for addresses.

if I understood it correctly, the city is divided into rows and columns like a checkerboard, every row and every column has it's name and numbering.

then, in every block, they just number the houses according to their date of construction.

in other words, no streetnames, and virtually endless possibilities to create fake addresses (by creating non-existing blocks, since the city isn't rectangle-shaped, and the naming and numbering allows blocks in the corners and in the middle of the sea).

Just because the real estate agent SAYS there is a Western Union within walking distance, does not mean it is necessarily so!!!
