There is quite a bit of press regarding the (usually Jamaican) lottery scams. Since they are trying to get victims to send money "for taxes" prior to ostensibly being sent their winnings, this is (IMHO) an AFF.

While the targets are mainly elderly folks in the USA and this is definitely an International group, there may be less overall interest in the modality than in the classic Nigerian 419 one. My personal experience is that the numbers of the classic 419 scam e-mails have been dwindling for a few years and the numbers of lottery scam phone calls and "Windows Technical Department" (definitely NOT an AFF) calls are getting rampant.

Of course, as a scambaiter, I simply cannot resist trying to get both of these scammer types to waste their time trying to convince an obviously gullible but terribly forgetful old man to send money. I have had them make many calls over several days to no avail. They do get pissed off at me at the end, but I NEVER let them know they've been had.

So, if this group isn't interested, does anyone know who is?

Why Yes! Yes they are.

There are many threads here on Lottery scams. It's a discrete type of AFF that is difficult - but not impossible to bait.

You should spend some time reading the stickies.

And never bait / correspond with a scammer from any email / phone that has been used for real life activities. That's not safe.
