My rich rancher character needs to pay a $200 fee, but is too busy to go into town to the Western Union. He has one of his ranch hands do it for him. The ranch hand pockets the money and sends a profane taunting email. The lad forwards the email to the rancher. The rancher is horrified and offers to pay $5000 as an apology. The lad will have none of that. He just wants the $200.

I've seen similar stories here. Sometimes, the lads just don't want the bigger money. They just want the crumbs. What is up with that?

I could guess two theories

1. By forwarding you the e-mail and refusing the $5000 the lad thinks he is proving he is trustworthy

2. The lad is thinking rationally, and realizes that no one would offer to send $5000 dollars to someone as an apology for something as minor as $200.

I'm sure someone else might have a more insightful guess

I was just wondering this in general, since I have seen other baiters noticing this, too.

Anyway, he changed his mind. He wants the whole $5000 now. My rancher character is hard at work, though, and won't respond for awhile. I will concoct an emergency which makes it impossible for him to make it back to town in a timely fashion.

Too bad the lad doesn't have a bank account. I could take care of it easily with a quick call to the banker....

Option 1 He is dumb.

Option 2 He doesn't have any back accounts.

Option 3. All the above.

^^ I do not know of a list but the lad will tell you.

The puppy scammers will have a statement similar to the following. Once I find their threshold for bank transfer I look for a way to make the transfer big enough so they will cough up a bank account.

All payments below $1200 must be with WU or MG.
