here in austria, there is the tale about japanese tourists, who parked their car in vienna in the "einbahnstraße". in english, that means one way street. those poor souls searched for that street for quite some while.

sadly, the streets in hong kong have streetnames written in latin letters and chinese letters, so no way to get lost based on this.

so, what happened in hong kong? have you been lost over there? I know, it's a scary city, and the taxi drivers are big scammers, bringing you into the worst rathole you can imagine, and not to the nice and comfortable hotel room which those nice and friendly folks from west africa have booked for you.

So, say the ticket was purchased in your name or you could somehow board the flight legitimately, and you knew your way around the destination or could feign it well enough - why would it be such a risk to take the flight? It's not like you come off the flight with a big name tag on your shirt, and nobody is going to approach each disembarking passenger and ask them what their name is, especially if they have malicious intentions.

Same goes for agreeing to meet a scammer in a public place - there's no reason you can't go along anyway and watch the idiot pace back and forth waiting for the mugu to arrive. From behind some oversized sunglasses of course.

As the lad could see the booking he knew I hadn't travelled so in the end there wasn't much scope for a ruse. I told them I went to board the plane and got arrested as the ticket was bought with a stolen credit card. Didn't hear much from them after.

There would be no way of knowing who would be following you if you were walking (flying) into a drug triad operation in Hong Kong, you could be followed, you don't know who they have bribed; customs officials (etc). I certainly wouldn't risk it, Hong Kong triads are not the sort of people you want to cross. Not that I could've boarded the plane anyway as the ticket was booked in my baiting name as opposed to my real one.
