Anything special about authorize.net for CC payments?

I just strung along a lad and got some accounts out of him to report, then chopped him. I tried baiting him from another account and he seems fixated on using only authorize.net as a CC processor for his "I'll send you too much money, then you pay the event planner for me" modality.

Authorize.net seems pretty well-established and legit. Any ideas why?

Aside from those little minor details, I do have to say that I have never had a lad try to dictate to me what CC processor I should use, although I have had one who
wanted to know which one I use. I ignored the request, and he dropped the issue. I was told by another baiter that telling the lad that you use Wells Fargo
can work well, and I am prepared to tell him that I use GotMerchant just in case he persists: http://www.gotmerchant.com/verifone_vx570_machine.php
Something that I do tell them is that I process cards ONLY by phone; therefore, there is no receipt available to email to them -- it works out VERY well Wink

Furthermore, I refuse to allow any lad to push me as far as yours seems to be trying to push you. I have used debit and credit cards to make all manners of purchases for nearly
40 years and have never asked a merchant what processor he uses -- besides, it's none of my beeswax, and I don't think that it's any of that lad's business, either!

The first time around this lad dropped the issue and let me simply "process" his payment via email.

The second time around (with a different character) he dropped me after I said I wasn't going to change payment processors for him.

I'm thinking maybe he got burned too hard the first time he's not willing to go off-script now.

Absolutely.

Dude's specifically targeting a particular American city's professional photographers via text message. He tried to get one of my friends and I got pissed and picked up baiting again.

You could probably start with just "tell me about the event you want photographed." I don't actually have any of his original messages. I've engaged him three times now with a cold email.

In that case - I would be extra careful. Or probably wouldn't mess with him at all.

If he's targetting specifically one local are of business, odds are he might be from around.

And also the odds are some ITP gets involved and that's something to avoid. But I would surely contact a moderator in this case to see their opinion.

Just my 0.02$.

Please don't take this as me dismissing your gut, but I'm 100% certain the guy is from nowhere around here. He knows extremely little about the area he's targeting, the numbers he texts from are from all over the place (coast to coast), and he's appropriately pissed off by Igbo insults.

If he's targetting one specific business in one specific area you can never tell if he doesn't put the blame on someone else.
