Anything beyond "the scammer offers" is a moot point. They are using fake identities making any agreement from the initial offer email null and void. We could go rounds and rounds on the argument, but an agreement involving one party using a fake identity is an agreement under false pretenses meaning it's absolutely worthless.

yes. but

as I pointed out earlier, there are some modalities which may be forbidden in countries where the baiter is located.

for example in germany, you are not (under any circumstance) allowed to pose as lawyer, if you aren't one. of course, the lad can't go to the police, and others are unaware of it, but it is still a problem.

that's the problem with a worldwide community, there are a lot of nationalities with their own sets of laws.

baiters should be at least aware of those problems and read through some of the necessary laws. and it's always a good idea to have your characters in other countries than you are.

Let's be realistic. Legal or not, does it really matter? If actual victims can't get justice from the American side of things, how are scammers going to get "justice" from their side? It's not going to happen. Who are they going to go to? The Nigerian police? Please.

Thanks for all the replies. I must admit that I am not 100% convinced, but those who are baiting are, so that's all that matters.
At the moment I am reading through all the archives and the interview of Ronald Jones by DS Juan Trique Ponee has got to be the best so far! If only the scammer's face could be seen when the 'penny drops'!

There are two questions I have and would appreciate an answer if possible:

(1)Why are the writers called 'lads'?
(2)This has always confused me. Why do they want bank account details? I have read it's so they can access your account, but I cannot see how they can do that (also, the details they want are on every cheque issued so these aren't a big secret).
When I contact my banks, getting any information AT ALL is akin to trying to join the Grand Illuminati Lodge of the Freemasons with god-knows how many questions (and a wrong answer to any will promptly end the call). My own experience with banks indicates that knowing details of an account is of no use without also having several pieces of personal and/or randomly-selected pieces of information. So, why do they want details of the prospective victim's own bank account?

I thought it was the Master Illuminati Lodge of the Freemasons, MILF, but, the point is the same. The lads want bank accounts to make them seem real. If you share that information, you are further invested in them. Its all about them establishing their legitimacy.

As for the lads, anything we do to them, after the initil "I have a gajillion dollars for you..." is fine. Tattoo, humiliate, make them travel and wste money, its all good. They can't sue us as the whole premise of our relationship is that they tried to scam us.

Besides. Its fun.
