Found a "doctor" in my catching account, that can solve all my problems by means of casting spells. I've played along for a bit, and now it looks like he's about to invite me to some voodoo-temple, god knows where.
Still no request to send money, bank account info etc., so I'm a bit confused here. Is this a scam like the others, or something else? If it's really just a medicine man of some kind, I'm tempted to leave him and his business alone. |

*** 419 EATER FORUM RULES - PLEASE READ ***
What is absolutely not allowed
| Quote: |
| We also do not bait 'spellcasters'. Belief in the occult is extremely strong in parts of western Africa, even among those who profess themselves to be followers of traditional faiths. It doesn't matter if you think their beliefs are bogus. If the person on the other end of that email does believe, and is willing to perform these spells or rituals, and he thinks he is getting paid for them, he just might do it. In that case, a baiter's encouragement has the potential to cause real harm to humans and/or animals. It is never a risk worth taking. |
Please revisit the forum rules and drop this bait immediately. |

Thanks for the quick heads-up.
I feel like a bit of an ass, right now, but that's fine. It didn't feel right. Now I know why... |

You shouldn't - you asked and then replied politely. Nothing wrong with that. |

Don't feel that way at all. You are not the first to attempt baiting one. It just happens to be a path Eater does not want to follow. |

Don't so hard on yourself. You had the good sense to contact these wonder folks at Eaters. |

I fell into this trap very early on in my time here. My rich little old lady had actually told the spell-caster that she had been 'inspired' by him and had taken it upon herself to gather all the horrible bits and pieces he had told were necessary. It was at that point that I began to have my own doubts, so I ignored his occasional 'enquiries' for about three weeks. Then I got the old dear's niece to inform him that she had been discovered dead in her bed. Then I scrapped the email account. |

Yeah, well, I've read the forum rules more closely now and it makes sense not to bait these people. This site is huge with a lot of information to digest, so just in case I missed more, I've applied for a mentor. Maybe I dove into this sport too quickly. I will be a bit more careful now.
Still reading and learning. |

That is an excellent path. While it would seem baiting is "easy," there are many nuances, and Eater does it's best to provide an ethical way of dealing with these criminals. Reading the stickies is a great start and a mentor will be most helpful! |
