After a long while out of the game due to RL I'm slowly dipping back in. My primary interest right now is in lads operating on FB. It seems a bit more subtle than the standard email stuff, although I'm definitely going to be doing a bit of that too once I get my FB ducks in a row. Are there any good resources to getting started on this genre?

I don't bait FB, so I have absolutely no words of wisdom for you. But I do want to say, "Welcome Back, BH" and "Nice to Meetcha!!!"

Yes - nice to meet you!

I don't do Facebook scams either, but you can check the Romance scams over on Scamwarners. Do a search on SW for facebook.com and it should pull up some threads with profile links.

Have fun!

Create facebook baiting account. Make character over 45 years of age. If you use a photo, make it an unattractive one, edited so that it doesn't hurt any ITP's and is untraceable to source.
Friend everyone in sight.

If you don't want to wait for the scammers to come to you, then start by approaching them.

You can do this a few ways with the help of scamwarners:
-As metamit suggested, on the site, search for "facebook" and pick a few likely threads. Then just find the listed scammers on facebook and friend them.
-pick a few threads in the romance scam forum that have photos. Run the photos through google image search. Check the search results for facebook profiles using those photos--the most hits will probably come from the porn models and the soldiers. Check out those profiles. Some will be obvious scams (like when the name the scammer is using doesn't match the uniform, etc.) Send friend requests to any that look interesting. It generally doesn't take long before the messages start coming in.
-pick names of soldiers being used, and search them on facebook. Often you will find more profiles.

If I want to speed things up, I will ASEM a scammer via facebook message with something like "Do you have a brother named Jim? I went to college with a Jim xxx and we lost contact. I know he had a brother/sister about your age. I was curious how Jim is doing and wanted to locate him." Many scammers will jump on that opening to start up a "relationship."

Good info, thanks. And nice to meet you all, such as it were.

That's about what I'm doing now, but lining up the documentation and phones so FB doesn't kill my baiting account is what's slowing me down. I've lost 2 so far mid bait, but I'm getting it sorted. Very Happy
