When RL gets busy, I often drop baits for weeks. Like Ser Davos, I had one where my character didn't respond for months (I forgot the password to the email account ). When I finally got back into the account and saw that the lad had continued emailing 2-3 times a week, I replied as my character's father who explained that my character had died. The lad was quite happy to continue the business transaction with Dad. |

Ahhh, so it looks like most of you don't totally drop the bait, you just do your RL stuff and then revive it later. That's what I'm leaning towards doing.
I've also killed off characters and the lads were more than happy to snag the daughter/granddaughter/son/insert here. I've run through accidents, funerals, you name it. Sometimes I'll think a lad dropped me but then they'll email weeks later.
So here's my plan, next week is a little lighter so I'll email all of them this weekend to see who's still around. And if I don't have time here and there to keep up my story, I'll just send some kind of one-liner to all of them just to let them know I'm still around. That should be enough and still keep RL balanced, right?
ETA:
Just so no one worries, my RL stuff isn't serious. Just a busy time of year with school ending, baseball season for one kid, school appointments for another kid, 2 bithdays this month, 3 graduations, a family reunion and a partridge in a pear tree. LOL It's always crazy this time of year and I should have thought ahead before stacking my baits up. Like most of you, I don't like to walk away from a good bait and you guys have given me some excellent advice |
