I called back a few times to harass him and he got very upset with me.

I then resorted to blowing a coach's whistle into the phone a few times.

I won't post the number but the area code was 424 and the automated message give the IRS agent's name as Nikki Johnson.

Yeah, scammers don't mind wasting your time but they hate it when you do it to them.

I'm not sure to what you're referring. Did you mean to reply to a topic rather than start a new one? If so, just post a link to the thread you're referencing.

It can be fun or cathartic to mess with scammers, whichever way they contact you. Just be careful when they have your real information, like when they contact you by phone.

This is a warning I’d like to share to everyone, too... I got a call from a 202 phone number last week and the guy claimed he was purportedly from the IRS. He said I owed back taxes and that he would help me settle if I paid $1000 within 2 hours to give him time to submit the paperwork. He threatened that if I refused, I would be arrested for tax evasion. But I knew the guy was a fake so I pretended to call the police from my mobile phone. When I got back to him on the phone, line was dead. So be careful with such calls. It just might be a scammer after your life savings.

Thank you for posting this. This scam surfaces frequently around the US tax deadline and the personal nature of the calls frighten many people. The IRS website has warnings that no auditor will ever contact a taxpayer by phone.
