Hi all,

As a returning baiter after a few years out of the game I think I might have noticed a few things about the site with my fresh eyes that you may or may not have noticed.

The most glaring one is how things have changed for the better as regards not educating the lads as to our tricks, and not giving them anything they can use against potential future victims. This is great and I'm really glad to see some of the more ethically dubious issues getting tightened up on.

Unfortunately these rules are in stark contrast to some of the stuff that's still up on the letters archive. There's loads of examples - check out 'Frederick's Waterloo', especially the last email, and tell me you don't agree. I'd say for the casual first time visitor and have-a-go baiting hero that they are much more likely to spend time reading through these hilarious japes as they are carefully reading through the rules (which benefit everyone except the lads!).

Would it make sense to spend a bit of time going through some of these, and either removing all but the best of them or simply adding a few more notes and links to make sure people understand that that's not the way things are done these days?

Apart from anything else, if the lads got their hands on just that one email at the end of Frederick's Waterloo then they're going to get a huge amount of free scamming advice!

Despite what you may have thought before, I see no need to (looks around for missles) duck for cover at all! Everyone I have run into here have been nothing short of awesome since I arrived last month. I have learned more in that short time than I thought I would and am already knee deep in about 10 baits. Some are active, some not so much but if one fizzles, I have others to keep pursuing.

I have been perusing really old threads in this area and have found even more great tips! I did boo boo and necro'd one from 2013 the other night but I apologized, the mod locked it and life went on. No one jumped on me and I got a nice "it happens" from the mod.

Compare that to the flame wars that break out on other forums and this is like one big happy family. Here you can ask that stupid question, and get one or 50 answers in minutes!!!

I see not a problem in the old threads. That is to laugh at and learn from. What better way to see a straight "boring" bait turn into a 3 year sandtimer and 2 or 6 safaris out of nowhere. Also the problem might be, who decides what stays and what goes?

I see it this way, I may have a very keen interest in a certain thread that runs 2 pages but is full of entertainment and ideas. Whereas you only see a good one that is over a year long and involves this that or that this. See what I mean? It is up to the reader to decide.

Don't worry, we help the newbies immensely! We got the stickies, Eater U, Mentors, we teach them well as they usually post quickly!

I get your side though, don't get me wrong. This is strictly my opinions and do not reflect those of the management.

Having said all that, I did forget one important thing:

WELCOME BACK HOME!!!!!!!

Welcome back. If the lad could find it, well, you're right, it probably would educate him...a bit. That post was from 2003, and, well...we're still fighting them. They could learn from the Main Forum, too, I would guess. We see a lad here, from time to time. But we see many more victims, family and friends of the same, and future baiters. We're always trying to clean things up, but our history is important, too.

Jose recently wrote a nice presentation of it. It's almost as no e as his boots:
