Have you noticed that replies to formats coming from Benin are almost never answered unless one puts in a fake MTCN or some other claim of having made a payment? They seem to NEVER reply to any direct question.

I suspect that the model in Benin shifted a while ago to putting little effort into the scam. The Bennin boys seem to demand payment in their opener, relying on mass mailings to yield a one-in-a-thousand payoff.

In contrast Lagos lads still seem willing to put in the effort to try to win over victims by answering questions or addressing suspicions or helping their poor victim better understand why 15.5 million dollars is headed to them in two trunk boxes from Africa. Lagos lads are more likely to try to build trust and then go for the gold and hopefully get a good "victim for life" out of it.

As for me,I'm having a lousy time baiting the Benninese. I find the Bennin crews more annoying because I suspect they are getting their victims with much less pain from baiters. I'd like to step up my Bennin game.

Your thoughts, observations and suggestions are welcome.

I've also noted the shift to immediate demands for cash in the opening spam. Interesting how the entire "industry" makes these shifts at the same time.

I've also seen a big drop in loan lads, I wonder if that wasn't working out for them?

I noticed that, too ... the opening email says "it'll only cost you $80 for delivery" or blah blah blah and then their replies are simple one-liners and after 3 or so emails of my confused mind they just say "you are not serious" and leave me ....

I thought maybe it was something I said but it looks like I'm not the only one LOL

Te only rise I get from these lads is by sending a 9 or 11-digit MTCN, but even that burns out quickly.

I am wondering of a dolla chop might work better.

Benin lads are notoriously painful to talk to on the phone.

Oh I get a rise alright .... just this morning after 3 emails of "what?" and "but what is ria?" I got a one-line rant that called me stupid and childesh (his spelling not mine) and told me I'm not sereos. LOL Maybe it was my lad's time of the month.

I rarely engage with Lads in Republic of Benin simply because - like almost all West African countries - it is so expensive to call. Since Microsoft acquired Skype, it reduced its call cost to Nigeria by approx 500%. I focus on Lads in countries that are cheap to call, including Nigeria and Malaysia.

I've noticed it too, the fact that money demands are made in the opener. I was actually thinking about that recently, why the demands are made so up front now - I was wondering if I was the only one. Interesting to see that I'm not. Anyone know why this might be, that they're making the pitch to send them money so soon in the script? On one hand, it might be good for us - victims might balk a little more quickly when they see a money demand so quickly. On the other, I can see how it would be difficult to bait.
